Dominica rewards a longer stay: the waterfalls and hot springs of the Roseau Valley, a day or two of hiking in Morne Trois Pitons National Park, then the north around Portsmouth. For about two weeks of unlimited, Holafly asks $68.90 for 15 days, Ubigi $75 for 15 days with 30 GB at full speed, and Airalo $96 on its Discover global plan. For a month, Ubigi's Best World global plan asks $108 for 60 GB at full speed, Holafly $111.90 and Airalo $159. Ringo Light charges $51.99 for 2 weeks and $101.99 for 30 days, one payment each, nothing renews. Saily and Nomad sell no unlimited plan for Dominica at all.
Read what unlimited means before you pick. Airalo gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps. Ubigi gives 30 GB for 15 days, then 2 Mbps. Holafly states no daily cap for your own phone and limits sharing to 1 GB a day. The island is mountains and rainforest, and signal drops where the valleys close in. What to do in Dominica, and what your phone needs for it. Eight places most first trips include, from Roseau and the Roseau Valley in the south to Portsmouth in the north and the Kalinago Territory on the Atlantic coast, with the one thing your data does for you at each. The towns and coast roads have good 4G; the rainforest trails often do not.
Roseau, Southwest coast. The capital, a small grid of wooden and stone houses between the hills and the sea, where the cruise ships dock. The Saturday morning market by the river sells fruit, spices and fish. Prices are in Eastern Caribbean dollars and many stalls take cash only. A currency app does the sums; the rate is fixed at 2.70 to the US dollar.
Trafalgar Falls, Roseau Valley. Two waterfalls side by side, known as the Father and the Mother, at the end of a short trail from the visitor centre above Trafalgar village. Go early, before the cruise groups arrive. National park sites ask for a site pass. Buy it before you go and keep a photo of it on your phone.
The Boiling Lake, Morne Trois Pitons National Park. A flooded fumarole whose grey water boils under a cloud of steam, at the end of a hard full-day hike through the Valley of Desolation. Most people go with a local guide and start at dawn from Titou Gorge. There is no signal for most of the trail. Save the route offline and tell someone when you set off.
Emerald Pool, Morne Trois Pitons National Park. A waterfall dropping into a green pool at the end of an easy walk through the rainforest, on the road across the island. Cool enough for a swim. The cross-island road winds and traffic drives on the left. A maps app shows how long the drive really takes.
Scotts Head and Champagne Reef, Southern tip. A headland joined to the village by a narrow strip of land, with the Caribbean Sea on one side and the Atlantic on the other. Just up the coast, volcanic bubbles rise through the water at Champagne Reef. Check the sea forecast before you book a snorkel or dive boat; the reserve is best on calm mornings.
Cabrits National Park and Fort Shirley, Portsmouth. A wooded headland above Prince Rupert Bay with the restored stone buildings of an 18th-century British garrison. Trails lead up through the forest to the old batteries. Buses between Portsmouth and Roseau are minivans with no timetable. Ask your guesthouse for a driver's number and save it.
The Indian River, Portsmouth. Local guides row you upstream under the roots of bloodwood trees, a slow, quiet trip on the water. A scene of Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed along its banks. Guides meet boats at the river mouth and many take bookings by WhatsApp. Message ahead the day before.
The Kalinago Territory, East coast. Home to the Kalinago, the island's first people, along the Atlantic coast. The Kalinago Barana Autê cultural village shows their crafts, canoe building and cassava bread. The east coast is close to Douglas-Charles Airport. Download the island map offline before the drive from the airport, where signal comes and goes.

No. Dominica and the Dominican Republic are two different countries almost 1,000 km apart, and a plan for one does not cover the other. Check that the plan you buy says Dominica, or a Caribbean plan that lists Dominica by name.
