Read what unlimited means before you pick. Airalo gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps, on both its plans. Saily's Global month gives 30 GB, then 1 Mbps, and that listing is from June. Ubigi gives 30 GB for 15 days or 60 GB for the month, then 2 Mbps. Holafly states no daily cap for your own phone and limits sharing to 1 GB a day. Ringo Light has no speed cap: the 2 weeks starts with 10 GB and the 30 days with 20 GB, and when you have used 80% we add 10 GB once and charge the $31.99 top-up. Fiji has two mobile networks, Vodafone Fiji and Digicel Fiji. Nomad names Vodafone; Airalo's Fiji plan, Holafly and Ubigi's Fiji plan name Digicel; Saily does not name its network. Both networks cover Nadi, Denarau, the Coral Coast, Suva and the towns of Vanua Levu and Taveuni well.
Be honest with yourself about the outer islands. On small resort islands in the Mamanuca and Yasawa groups, on Ovalau and on the boats between them, signal is limited or missing in places, and that is true for every brand on this page, ours included, because they all ride the same two networks. Many island resorts offer Wi-Fi, often slow. Download offline maps, your ferry tickets and your booking details before you leave Denarau.

What to do in Fiji, and what your phone needs for it. Eight places most first trips include, from Nadi and the islands off Denarau to Suva, Levuka and Taveuni, with the one thing your data does for you at each. Signal is good on the main islands and thin on the small outer ones, so a few of these tips are about getting ready before you lose it.
Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple, Nadi, Viti Levu. A South Indian style temple with a painted tower of gods, at the south end of Nadi town, and one of the largest Hindu temples in the Southern Hemisphere. Cover shoulders and knees and leave your shoes at the door. It is a short taxi from the airport or Denarau. Many Nadi taxis take cash only, so check the fare on a maps app and carry Fijian dollars.
Monuriki and the Mamanuca Islands, Off Nadi. Small islands of white sand and reef west of Nadi, and Monuriki is the one where Cast Away was filmed. Day trips and resort transfers leave from Port Denarau. Keep your boat booking and the departure pier on your phone. Signal fades on the smallest islands, so message your pickup before you lose it.
Naviti and the Yasawa Islands, North of the Mamanucas. A long chain of hilly islands with quiet beaches and village stays, reached by the daily catamaran from Port Denarau. Manta rays feed in the channel off Naviti from about May to October. Coverage is patchy up the chain. Save offline maps, your ferry ticket and your resort's details before you board.
Sigatoka Sand Dunes National Park, Coral Coast, Viti Levu. Fiji's first national park: tall dunes at the mouth of the Sigatoka River, with walking trails through forest and down to a wild beach. Go early, there is little shade. It sits on the Queens Road between Nadi and Suva. A maps app shows where the bus stops and how far to walk.
The Coral Coast, South coast of Viti Levu. Resorts, villages and a reef that runs close to shore between Sigatoka and Pacific Harbour. The lagoon is best for snorkelling at high tide. Look up the tide times: at low tide the reef flat is too shallow to swim.
Suva, Capital, southeast Viti Levu. Fiji's capital, with the harbour, the Fiji Museum in Thurston Gardens and the big municipal market. Suva is wetter than Nadi, so bring a light rain jacket. Taxis are cheap and metered. A maps app helps you check the route and find the museum from the market on foot.
Levuka, Ovalau island. The old colonial capital, a UNESCO World Heritage town of wooden shopfronts along Beach Street. Reached by ferry from Viti Levu or a short flight from Nausori. Signal on Ovalau is weaker than on Viti Levu, and many shops take cash only. Book your ferry and save its time before you go.
Taveuni, The Garden Island, northeast. Rainforest, the waterfalls of Bouma National Heritage Park and the Rainbow Reef dive sites across the Somosomo Strait. Reached by a domestic flight from Nadi or Suva, or by ferry. Keep your domestic flight booking on your phone and check the time on the day. Download offline maps: the road around the island is long and signal comes and goes.
