Prices read on 28 September 2026. Six travel eSIMs get most of the traffic for this search, and all six sell something for Vanuatu, though three of them only small buckets. We priced all six on the same day, for a few days in Port Vila, two weeks between Efate, Tanna and Santo, and a month, and read the fine print on unlimited. In Vanuatu we are far from the cheapest, and this page says plainly who is.

Airalo: Cheapest unlimited and cheapest buckets, for every length. Its Oceania plan, which covers Vanuatu: 3 days of unlimited at $11.50, 15 days at $49, 30 days at $73.50, and 10 GB for 30 days at $25.50. Its own Vanuatu plan on Digicel costs more: $95 for 15 days.
Ubigi: Most full-speed data for two weeks or a month. Its Best World plans, which cover Vanuatu: 30 GB for 15 days at $77 and 60 GB for 30 days at $108, then 2 Mbps. Its Vanuatu plans stop at 3 GB.
Holafly: Simplest unlimited on Digicel. Days, not gigabytes, from 1 to 20 days: $27.90 for 3 days, $53.50 for a week, $89.90 for 14 days. No 30-day plan for Vanuatu.

Most trips to Vanuatu are one or two weeks, split between Efate and one or two outer islands. For about two weeks of unlimited, Airalo's Oceania plan asks $49 for 15 days, Ubigi $77 for 30 GB over 15 days, Holafly $89.90 for 14 days and Airalo's own Vanuatu plan $95 for 15 days. Ringo Light charges $139.99 for 2 weeks: $90.99 more than Airalo's Oceania plan. For a month, Airalo's Oceania plan is $73.50 and Ubigi $108 for 60 GB; Ringo Light is $277.99, $204.49 more than Airalo. We would rather you read that here than at checkout.
Read what unlimited means before you pick. Airalo gives 3 GB a day at full speed on both its plans, then 1 Mbps, which is enough for maps, messages and photos every day. Ubigi gives a fixed amount at full speed, then 2 Mbps. Holafly states no daily cap for your own phone and limits sharing to 1 GB a day. Ringo Light has no speed cap: the 2 weeks starts with 10 GB and the 30 days with 20 GB, and when you have used 80% we add 10 GB once and charge the $139.99 top-up. A heavy two weeks with us costs $279.98 and a heavy month $417.98. If you need a lot of data, Airalo's Oceania plan also sells 50 GB for 30 days at $72.
For a short trip, Ringo Light sells no 3-day or 7-day plan. Airalo's Oceania plan sells 3 days of unlimited at $11.50 and a week at $27.
Vanuatu has two mobile networks, Digicel and Vodafone, which used to be TVL. Airalo's Vanuatu plan, Holafly, Nomad and Ubigi's Vanuatu plan all name Digicel. Both networks cover Port Vila, the Efate ring road and Luganville well. Holafly's own page warns that coverage is weaker inland on Tanna and Espiritu Santo, in the Banks Islands and at sea, and that holds for every brand here, because they all ride the same local networks.
Before you fly to an outer island, download offline maps, your booking confirmations and your return flight details. On Ambrym and on the ash plain below Mount Yasur, expect long stretches without signal.

What to do in Vanuatu, and what your phone needs for it. Eight places most first trips include, on Efate, Tanna, Espiritu Santo and Ambrym, with the one thing your data does for you at each. The islands are linked by small domestic flights and boats, and signal is good in Port Vila and Luganville and thin away from them.
Port Vila harbour, Port Vila, Efate. The capital sits on a sheltered bay with Iririki Island just offshore. Walk the seafront to the central market for fruit and cooked lunches, then take the short ferry over to Iririki. Minibuses with a B on the number plate go anywhere in town. Show the driver your destination on a maps app.
Mele Cascades, Near Mele, north of Port Vila. A stream drops through a chain of limestone pools to a waterfall at the top, with a path and rope rails up the rocks. Go in the morning, before the tour groups. Signal fades in the gorge. Agree your pickup time with the driver before you walk up.
Eton Beach, East coast of Efate. A white sand beach on a lagoon where a freshwater stream meets the sea, under an hour from Port Vila on the ring road. Calm for swimming and snorkelling. The sealed ring road runs right round Efate, and signal comes and goes on the far side. Save an offline map before you drive.
Mount Yasur, Tanna. One of the most accessible active volcanoes in the world. Guided tours drive up in the afternoon and watch the eruptions from the crater rim as night falls. Check the current volcanic alert level from Vanuatu's geohazards office before you book: the rim closes when activity rises.
Luganville and the SS President Coolidge, Espiritu Santo. Vanuatu's second town was a large US base in the Second World War. The troopship President Coolidge sank just off its shore in 1942 and is now one of the best known wreck dives in the world, entered from the beach. Dive shops book by email and WhatsApp. Confirm your dive time the evening before.
The blue holes of Santo, East coast of Espiritu Santo. Spring-fed freshwater pools of clear blue water under the forest, among them Nanda, Matevulu and Riri. Swim from the jetty or kayak in from the river. Entry is paid in cash at the gate. Carry vatu; a currency app shows what it is at home.
Champagne Beach, Hog Harbour, Espiritu Santo. A curve of white sand and clear shallow water in the north-east of Santo, about an hour's drive from Luganville. Quiet on most days. Cruise ships anchor here some days. Check the ship schedule online and go on a day without one.
The volcanoes of Ambrym, Ambrym. Marum and Benbow craters rise from a wide ash plain in the middle of the island, reached on a guided trek of two days or more from the coast. The lava lakes in this 2009 photograph drained after the 2018 eruption, so ask your guide what the craters show now. There is no signal on the ash plain. Download the offline map and send your plans home before you leave the village.
