Ringo Light's 2 weeks of unlimited at $40.99 costs $14.99 more than Airalo's 10 GB, and it lasts 2 weeks, not 30 days. If you need a little data to last the whole month, Airalo's 10 GB is the better buy, and we would rather you read that here than at checkout. That is why the 10 GB chart shows the two side by side.
The two-week chart sets Ringo Light's 2 weeks against Airalo's 15 days, the nearest lengths, as the full comparison does. The month chart is like for like, with 30 days at each.
What unlimited means at each
Airalo's unlimited gives you 3 GB a day at full speed and then 1 Mbps until the day rolls over. That is enough for maps, messages, photos and an hour or two of video. A long evening of HD streaming will hit it, and a laptop on the hotspot will hit it sooner. Ringo Light has no daily figure and stays at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in Peru
Peru has four networks: Movistar, Claro, Entel and Bitel. Movistar and Claro reach furthest, and the travel eSIMs priced here ride one or both. Lima, Cusco, Arequipa and Puno are covered by all four. Signal thins in the high Andes, on the Inca Trail and in the Amazon, whichever network you are on, so download offline maps before you leave a city.
Airalo rides Movistar. Ringo Light rides a local partner network, as the full comparison says.
Installation, app and support
Airalo works through its app: you buy, install and top up there. Ringo Light's eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan from the QR code. With no bucket there is no balance to watch. Whichever you choose, install it at home on Wi-Fi before you fly and switch it on for data when you land in Lima.
What Ringo Light is, and what it is not
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM. For Peru it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $40.99 and 30 days at $56.99. You pay once, nothing renews and there is no app.
It is data only, so there is no phone number and calls go over apps that use data. It sells no buckets, no 3-day plan and no 7-day plan, and there is no balance screen because there is nothing to count. If you want 10 GB to last a month, or a short plan, Airalo is the better buy. For unlimited at two weeks or a month, Ringo Light is the cheaper of the two.
