1 · The short answer
NOS Alive is held at the Passeio Marítimo de Algés, on the Tagus waterfront just west of central Lisbon, and the organiser's site lists 8, 9 and 10 July. With tens of thousands of people on a waterfront site, mobile signal gets crowded in front of the stages, and especially when the gates open and when the headliners finish.
The simplest setup for a visitor is a data eSIM for Portugal installed at home, with your own SIM left on for calls and bank codes. Ringo Light's Portugal plan has unlimited data at full speed; it arrives by email and installs in one scan, so your phone is online when you land. EU visitors can also use their home plan under EU roaming rules, if it has enough data.

2 · The crowd and the signal
A big festival means a lot of phones on the same cells. Messages and maps usually arrive, but photos and video uploads stall in front of the main stage, and calls can drop at peak moments. Step to the edge of the site or wait for a quiet set and it usually picks up.
Pause photo backup on mobile data, and send your videos later from your hotel or home Wi-Fi.
3 · What your phone has to do
- ✓Your ticket. Save the ticket or wristband confirmation as a screenshot or PDF so it opens at the gate without signal. Read the organiser's entry rules before you travel.
- ✓Official site and programme. The organiser's site has the line-up, the site rules and the getting-there pages. Check it for the final programme and save the pages you need.
- ✓Maps offline. Download the Lisbon and Algés map in your maps app on Wi-Fi, so you can find the station and your way home late at night.
- ✓Paying. Festivals are often cashless on site. Check the organiser's payment rules before you go, and keep your phone wallet and card charged.
4 · Getting there and around
The usual way is the CP Linha de Cascais train from Cais do Sodré in central Lisbon to Algés, a short ride from the site. Lisbon's Viva Viagem card works on the metro, buses and the train, and the festival's getting-there page lists the bus, shuttle, ferry and parking options and any late-night services. Check it and the operators' sites (CP, Carris) for the current year, because timetables change.
Trains and shuttles are crowded when the music stops, so plan your way back before you go in. Maps and transport apps work on mobile data, and they are much quicker to use before the crowd leaves.
5 · Meeting points, battery and safety
- ✓Agree a meeting point before you go in. Pick a landmark that is easy to name, such as a food area or a specific gate, because phones will not always connect.
- ✓Share your location in advance. Turn on location sharing with your group early, while the signal is easy.
- ✓Carry a small power bank. A long day outdoors with a weak signal drains a battery fast. Check the organiser's rules on what you can bring in.
- ✓Drink water, mind the sun. July in Lisbon is hot and the waterfront site has little shade. The European emergency number is 112.
6 · Which plan covers NOS Alive
Ringo Light's Portugal plan covers the whole country: Lisbon, the trip to Sintra or Cascais, and anywhere else you go in Portugal. If your trip continues to Spain, a Europe plan covers the borders on one eSIM. Install it at home on Wi-Fi, switch data to it when you land, and keep your own line for calls.
