Airalo vs Nomad in one paragraph

For a bucket in Chile, Nomad is the cheaper of the two: $25 against $28 for 10 GB ($3 less) and $39 against $48 for 20 GB ($9 less), each for 30 days. Nomad also sells unlimited, but only for 5 days at $26 and 10 days at $45, at 2 GB a day, then slower. Airalo sells unlimited for 3, 7, 15 and 30 days at 3 GB a day, then 1 Mbps, on Movistar and WOM. The lengths do not match, so we do not call either cheaper on unlimited. Pick Nomad for a bucket. Pick Airalo if you want unlimited for 3, 7, 15 or 30 days. If the trip is two weeks or a month and you want unlimited, Ringo Light sells $44.99 for 2 weeks and $63.99 for 30 days, unlimited data at full speed.

Price: the same trip at each

Priced on 28 September 2026, in US dollars. For 10 GB for 30 days, Nomad asks $25 and Airalo $28. For 20 GB for 30 days, Nomad asks $39 and Airalo $48. Nomad is cheaper on both, by $3 and $9.

Unlimited does not line up. Airalo sells 3 days at $12.50, 7 days at $27.50, 15 days at $50 and 30 days at $92. Nomad sells 5 days at $26 and 10 days at $45, and no 3-day, 7-day, 15-day or 30-day plan. With no shared length, we leave the comparison out rather than call either one cheaper.

Ringo Light sells two trips for Chile: 2 weeks at $44.99 and 30 days at $63.99. The 2 weeks costs $5.01 less than Airalo's 15 days, and the 30 days costs $28.01 less than Airalo's month. Against Nomad's 10 days of unlimited at $45, our 2 weeks is $0.01 less and 4 days longer. For a fixed amount of data, Nomad's 10 GB at $25 and Airalo's at $28 are both cheaper than our $44.99, and ours lasts 2 weeks, not 30 days. Ringo Light sells no 3-day or 7-day plan.

What unlimited means at each

Airalo's unlimited for Chile, the Altoque plan, gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps for the rest of the day. That is enough for maps, messages and an hour or two of video; a long evening of streaming in HD will hit it. Nomad's unlimited for Chile gives 2 GB a day at full speed, then slower, and stops at 10 days; it sells no 30-day unlimited. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.

Networks and coverage in Chile

Chile has four national networks: Entel, Movistar, Claro and WOM. All four cover Santiago, Valparaiso and the towns of the central valley. Coverage thins on the desert roads of the Atacama, on the Carretera Austral and inside the Patagonian parks, whichever network you are on; on the trails of Torres del Paine there is almost none. For the cities any of them works; for the far north and the far south, download offline maps before you leave town.

Airalo rides Movistar and WOM. Nomad rides Movistar. Ringo Light rides a local partner network.

Installation, app and support

Airalo needs its app: you buy and install inside it. Nomad's app is optional. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan. Install it at home on Wi-Fi before you fly and switch it on for data when you land in Santiago.

The cheaper third option: Ringo Light

Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For Chile it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $44.99 and 30 days at $63.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.

What it does not do: no buckets, no 3-day or 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data. If you want 10 GB for a month, Nomad at $25 is the better buy. If you want 3 or 7 days, Airalo is cheaper than anything we sell. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is cheaper than Airalo.

How we compared, and our sources

Airalo, Nomad, Ringo Light

We priced Airalo, Nomad and Ringo Light for Chile on 28 September 2026, all on the same day, in US dollars. Each rival's price comes from its own website where it showed dollars, otherwise from an esimdb.com listing, and every source and its date is listed below. Ringo Light's prices come from the catalogue our checkout charges.

We compare the trips people actually book: a week, two weeks and a month of unlimited data, and a 10 GB bucket. We read each brand's fair use and speed rules and quote them as the brands state them. We did not run speed tests, so this page makes no speed claims for any brand.

Ringo Light is our own product. We put it in the table on the same terms as everyone else, and where a rival is the better buy the page says so.

Left out: Holafly, Saily and Ubigi. They sell Chile too and are priced on the same day in the full comparison at /blog/best-esim-for-chile. This page answers one question, Airalo vs Nomad, so it keeps to those two and the cheaper third option. Left out: A like for like unlimited price. Nomad's unlimited comes in 5 and 10 days; Airalo's in 3, 7, 15 and 30. They share no length, so this page does not call either brand cheaper on unlimited.
