The short answer
Airalo is the travel eSIM most people already know for Switzerland. Ringo Light is cheaper for unlimited at every length it sells: $8.99 against $11.50 for 3 days, $16.99 for 2 weeks against $25 for one week at Airalo, $32.99 against $68 for a month. Airalo wins where Ringo Light sells nothing: data buckets of 10 GB at $23 and 20 GB at $36, a named network, Sunrise, and an app that shows your balance and tops you up.
Unlimited data at full speed for 3 days at $8.99, 2 weeks at $16.99 or 30 days at $32.99, nothing renews, no app. No 7-day plan, no buckets.
10 GB for 30 days at $23, 20 GB at $36. Its Pilatus Mobile plan rides Sunrise. You buy, install, top up and see what is left inside its app. Ringo Light sells none of that.

The 30-day plan at each brand. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed. Airalo slows to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day.

Airalo vs Ringo Light in one paragraph
For unlimited data in Switzerland, Ringo Light is cheaper than Airalo at every length it sells, and not by a little. Three days is $8.99 against $11.50. Two weeks is $16.99, less than Airalo asks for one week at $25. A month is $32.99 against $68. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed; Airalo gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps. Airalo wins everything Ringo Light does not sell: a 7-day plan, data buckets of 10 GB at $23 and 20 GB at $36, a named network, Sunrise, and an app that shows your balance and tops you up. Pick Ringo Light if you want unlimited for 3 days, two weeks or a month. Pick Airalo if you want a bucket that lasts 30 days, a named network, or the comfort of the app.
Price: the same trip at each
Priced on 22 October 2026, in US dollars. For 3 days of unlimited, Airalo asks $11.50 and Ringo Light $8.99, $2.51 less. For a week, Airalo asks $25; Ringo Light sells no 7-day plan, and its 2 weeks at $16.99 costs less than Airalo's week, with a week of days left over. For a month, Airalo asks $68 and Ringo Light $32.99, $35.01 less. Ringo Light is cheaper at every length, including the one it does not sell.
For a fixed amount of data, Airalo is the only one of the two that sells it: 10 GB for 30 days at $23, 20 GB for 30 days at $36. Ringo Light sells no buckets. Its 2 weeks of unlimited at $16.99 costs less than Airalo's 10 GB, but it lasts 2 weeks, not 30 days, and our 30 days at $32.99 costs less than Airalo's 20 GB at $36. If you need a little data to last a whole month, a bucket is the better buy, and we would rather you read that here than at checkout. The full comparison at /blog/best-esim-for-switzerland shows Ubigi at $12 for 10 GB, cheaper than Airalo.
The two-week chart carries Ringo Light's 2 weeks against Airalo's 15 days, because Ringo Light sells no 7-day plan for Switzerland and the full comparison has no chart for a week. The month chart is like for like, 30 days at each.
What unlimited means at each
Airalo's unlimited for Switzerland, its Pilatus Mobile plan, gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps. That is enough for maps, train timetables, messages and photos; a long evening of streaming in HD will hit it, and a laptop on the hotspot will hit it sooner. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 3 days, 2 weeks or 30 days, with no daily figure. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in Switzerland, and EU roaming
Switzerland has three networks: Swisscom, Sunrise and Salt. Swisscom is the largest. All three cover the cities, the main rail lines and the big mountain resorts well. Airalo rides Sunrise, and that is a point for Airalo: you know which network you will be on before you buy. Ringo Light rides a local partner network. On high hiking trails, away from the lifts and villages, any network can drop out, so download offline maps before you set off. If you must have Swisscom by name, neither is the brand; Holafly names it in the full comparison.
Switzerland is not in the European Union. The EU rule that lets you roam at home prices does not apply here, so an EU phone plan may charge for data in Switzerland unless your carrier includes it. Check before you cross the border: it is the most common surprise on a Swiss trip.
Installation, app and support
Airalo needs its app: you buy, install and top up inside it, see how much data is left, and reach its support chat there. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan from the QR code, and support is by email. There is no balance to watch because there is no bucket. Whichever you pick, install it at home on Wi-Fi and switch it on for data when you land in Zurich or Geneva.
What Ringo Light is, and what it is not
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For Switzerland it sells three trips, all unlimited data at full speed: 3 days at $8.99, 2 weeks at $16.99 and 30 days at $32.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.
What it is not: it is data only, with no phone number, so calls go over apps that use data. It sells no buckets and no 7-day plan. It names no network. There is no app and no balance screen, because there is nothing to count. If you want 10 GB to last a month, or a Sunrise plan by name, Airalo is the better buy. For unlimited at 3 days, two weeks or a month, Ringo Light is the cheaper of the two by a wide margin.
