1 · The short answer

The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival lights up the Han River in Da Nang in summer. The 2026 edition ran from 30 May to 11 July, with fireworks teams from several countries competing over five qualifying nights and a grand final. Dates usually fall between late May and July, but they change each year, so check the organiser's site for the next edition.

The shows run in the evening along the river, with grandstands, concerts before the fireworks, and very large crowds. Your phone carries your tickets, your ride and your map back to the hotel.

Ringo Light's Vietnam plan covers the whole country with unlimited data at full speed. It arrives by email and installs in one scan. A local SIM in Vietnam needs passport registration, so many visitors set up data before they fly.

Ringo Light's Vietnam plan covers the whole of Vietnam: unlimited data at full speed, 2 weeks for $22.99 or 30 days for $42.99, nothing renews. The plan is at ringoesim.com/vietnam, and every brand's price for Hanoi is compared on one day in Best eSIM for Hanoi.

2 · What happens

Each night two teams, from different countries, fire a themed show over the Han River, and the festival ends with a grand final between the best teams. In 2026 the opening night was 30 May, the qualifying nights followed on Saturdays through 27 June, and the grand final was on 11 July. Each year's calendar is announced by the organisers, so confirm the nights before you book.

According to the festival's schedule, the grandstands usually open around 5 pm, music starts around 7 pm and the fireworks launch around 8 pm or later. Times vary by night, so check the official schedule.

3 · Tickets and where to watch

  • ✓Grandstands: The festival sells seats in grandstand blocks along the river, with different views and prices. Check the official ticket page for the current sections.
  • ✓Free viewing: Many people watch from the riverside, from a hotel or from a Han River cruise. Crowds are heavy, so arrive early.
  • ✓Book ahead: Popular nights, such as the opening and the grand final, sell fastest. Keep the e-ticket saved offline.

4 · Getting there and around

  • ✓Flights and trains: Da Nang has its own airport, close to the city, and is on the main north south rail line. Book early for festival weekends.
  • ✓Grab: Grab works in Da Nang and is the easiest way back to the hotel. After the show, demand is high and waits are long, so walk away from the crowd before you book.
  • ✓Road closures: Roads near the river are usually restricted on show nights. Expect a walk to and from the grandstands.
  • ✓Staying nearby: Hotels by the river fill up for festival nights, and Hoi An is a short ride away for a quieter base.

5 · What your phone has to do

  • ✓Tickets and maps: Save e-tickets as screenshots and download an offline map of the river area.
  • ✓Signal in the crowd: Thousands of phones in one spot slow the network. Send your location to friends before the show starts and upload videos afterwards.
  • ✓Ride apps: Grab needs data to hail and pay. Set the pickup point away from the main roads.
  • ✓Before you fly: A local SIM needs passport registration, so set up your eSIM at home.

6 · Which plan covers the trip

Ringo Light's Vietnam plan covers Da Nang, Hoi An, Hue, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and the rest of the country with unlimited data at full speed, enough for tickets, Grab and video calls. If you are adding other countries, the Global plan covers your route.
