Airalo vs Ringo Light in one paragraph
For two weeks or a month in Vietnam, Ringo Light is cheaper than Airalo by a wide margin: $22.99 for 2 weeks against $48 for 15 days, and $42.99 for 30 days against $69. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed; Airalo slows you to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day. That is the whole case for us, and we are proud of it. Airalo wins everything else. It sells 3 days of unlimited for $11.50 and a week for $27; Ringo Light sells neither length. It sells buckets, 10 GB for $18 and 20 GB for $29; Ringo Light sells no bucket. It names its network, VNPT, also called Vinaphone; Ringo Light rides a local partner network and does not name it. Pick Airalo for a short stay, a fixed amount of data or a named network. Pick Ringo Light for two weeks or a month of unlimited at the lowest price.
Price: the same trip at each
Priced on 25 October 2026, in US dollars. Airalo's unlimited plan for Vietnam, Xin Chao, costs $11.50 for 3 days, $27 for 7 days, $48 for 15 days and $69 for 30 days. Ringo Light sells two trips for Vietnam: 2 weeks at $22.99 and 30 days at $42.99. On the two-week chart Ringo Light is $25.01 cheaper than Airalo's 15 days, less than half the price, with one day less. On the month chart it is $26.01 cheaper.
The rows Airalo wins. For 3 days, Airalo at $11.50 is the only option of the two; Ringo Light sells no 3-day plan. For a week, Airalo at $27 is again the only option at that length. Ringo Light's 2 weeks at $22.99 costs $4.01 less than Airalo's week and lasts twice as long, so for a week of unlimited the cheaper ticket is still ours, but if you want to pay for exactly seven days, Airalo is the one that sells them.
For a fixed amount of data, Airalo is the only one of the two that sells it: 10 GB for 30 days at $18, 20 GB at $29. Ringo Light sells no bucket. If 10 GB is all you need for a month, Airalo at $18 is cheaper than Ringo Light's 2 weeks at $22.99, and we would rather you read that here than at checkout. The 10 GB chart shows that row as it is.
What unlimited means at each
Airalo's unlimited for Vietnam, the Xin Chao plan, gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps for the rest of the day. That covers maps, messages, Grab rides and an hour or two of video; an evening of streaming in HD on hotel wifi that drops out will hit it. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in Vietnam
Vietnam has three big networks: Viettel, Vinaphone and MobiFone. Airalo's Xin Chao plan rides VNPT, which is Vinaphone, with 4G along the tourist routes and 5G in the big cities. Ringo Light rides a local partner network, as the full comparison says; we do not name it on the page. Neither brand names Viettel, the largest network. For Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Hue, Hoi An, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, either works. If you want to know the exact network before you pay, Airalo tells you and we do not, and that is a row Airalo wins.
Installation, app and support
Airalo's app is optional for Vietnam: you can buy and install from its site or inside the app, and the app shows your remaining data and sells top-ups. Its support chat lives there too. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds, installs in one scan from the QR code, and support is by email. There is no balance to watch, because nothing runs out before the trip ends. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land at Noi Bai or Tan Son Nhat.
What Ringo Light is, and what it is not
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For Vietnam it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $22.99 and 30 days at $42.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.
What it is not: it is not a bucket, it has no 3-day or 7-day plan, it gives you no phone number, and it is data only. Calls go over apps that use data. If you want 10 GB for a month, Airalo at $18 is the better buy. If you want 3 days, Airalo at $11.50 is the only buy. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is the cheaper of the two.
