1 · The short answer
The Tel Aviv Marathon is held in February, and the organiser's site shows the next edition on Friday 26 February 2027. The programme lists a full marathon, a half marathon, a handcycle race, a 10K, a 5K and a children's mini marathon. Start and finish locations are on the organiser's maps and routes page, so check it before you book a hotel.
Tel Aviv closes many roads on race morning, so your phone does the work: maps, a taxi app, transport timetables and tracking. Ringo Light's Israel plan covers the whole country with unlimited data at full speed; it arrives by email and installs in one scan before you fly.

2 · What happens on race day
Several distances run on the same morning, so the city has runners from early hours and spectators spread along the route. The organiser publishes start times, maps and road closures for each distance; read them a few days before, as details can change from year to year.
Race day falls on a Friday, the start of the weekend in Israel, and some shops and public transport slow down towards the afternoon. Plan your return and your evening before you go.
3 · Getting around with closed roads
- ✓From the airport. Ben Gurion Airport has a direct train to Tel Aviv stations. Check the operator's timetable, especially around the weekend.
- ✓Rav-Kav. Rav-Kav is the national transport card for buses and trains. Many people also pay in the transport apps; check the current options on the Ministry of Transport site.
- ✓Moovit and Gett. Moovit shows live bus and train times and reroutes around closures. Gett is the taxi app most locals use. Set up both and add a payment card before you arrive.
- ✓Walk the last part. Roads near the start and finish close, so taxis drop you a few streets away. Allow extra time and keep the pin of your hotel saved offline.
4 · What your phone has to do
- ✓Entries and bib. Collect your bib at the expo as the organiser describes. Keep the registration confirmation and ID saved on your phone.
- ✓Maps. Download the Tel Aviv area in your maps app for offline use, then switch to live traffic and walking directions.
- ✓Tracking. Friends can follow you by sharing live location. Agree a meeting spot away from the finish area.
- ✓Paying. Cards and phone payments are widely accepted in Tel Aviv. Carry a card that works abroad and a spare.
5 · Signal at the start and finish
Thousands of people in a few streets slow any network. Send your location, start your tracker and agree your meeting point before the start. Refresh live results before your runner is due, rather than all together at the line.
If you run with your phone, start fully charged and use low power mode. GPS tracking for a few hours drains a battery quickly.
6 · Which plan covers the race
Ringo Light's Israel plan covers Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and the rest of the country, with unlimited data at full speed. It is built for travelling: install it at home, switch it on when you land and follow your route from the airport to the start line.
7 · Tel Aviv around the marathon
The city is compact and walkable, which suits the days around a race.
