Airalo vs Nomad in one paragraph
Nomad has no unlimited plan for Colombia, so the two only compare on buckets. Nomad is cheaper for 10 GB and ties Airalo at 20 GB. Airalo is the one to pick if you want unlimited. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light's $45.99 and $56.99 beat Airalo's 15 days at $48.50 and 30 days at $92.
Price: the same trip at each
These are US dollars from 22 October 2026. Nomad sells no unlimited plan for Colombia, so only Airalo has unlimited prices: $12.50 for 3 days, $27.50 for a week, $48.50 for 15 days and $92 for 30. There is no row where we can call one cheaper than the other, so we do not.
Ringo Light sells 2 weeks at $45.99 and 30 days at $56.99. The two weeks costs $2.51 less than Airalo's 15 days at $48.50, and the month costs $35.01 less than Airalo's $92. It sells no 3-day or 7-day plan, so for a short trip Airalo wins: $12.50 for 3 days, and $27.50 for a week, which is well under our 2 weeks at $45.99.
Buckets are where Nomad earns its place. 10 GB for 30 days is $28 at Airalo and $25 at Nomad, a $3 gap in Nomad's favour. 20 GB for 30 days is $39 at both. Ringo Light has no buckets: its $45.99 buys 2 weeks of unlimited, not 30 days of a fixed amount. For a set amount of data, Nomad is the cheaper buy.
What unlimited means at each
Airalo's unlimited gives you 3 GB a day at full speed and then 1 Mbps until the day rolls over. Nomad has no unlimited plan for Colombia, only buckets, so there is no daily speed to set against it. Ringo Light stays at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in Colombia
Colombia has four networks. Claro is the largest and reaches furthest outside the cities, with Movistar, Tigo and WOM behind it. All four cover Bogota, Medellin, Cali and Cartagena. Holafly's own page warns that coverage can be weaker in the mountains, in the rainforest and on roads far from towns, for example on parts of the trek to the Lost City, and the same is true for every brand. If you are heading into the Sierra Nevada or Tayrona, download an offline map before you leave town.
Nomad rides Movistar. Airalo does not name its network on its page, and Ringo Light rides a local partner network.
Installation and app
Airalo runs through its app, where you buy, install and top up. Nomad has an app too, but it is optional. Ringo Light's eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan, with no app. Whichever you choose, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land in Bogota.
The cheaper third option: Ringo Light
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM. For Colombia it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $45.99 and 30 days at $56.99. You pay once, nothing renews and there is no app.
It is data only, so there is no phone number and calls go over apps that use data. There are no buckets and no 3-day or 7-day plan. If you want a fixed amount of data, Nomad is the better buy. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is the cheapest plan on this page.
