4 · What to do in Denmark, and what your phone needs for it

Eight places most first trips include, from Copenhagen and the castles of North Zealand to the chalk cliffs of Mon, Aarhus, Ribe and the tip at Skagen, with the one thing your data does for you at each. Denmark pays by card and phone almost everywhere, so you rarely need cash.

5 · If you want unlimited for two weeks or a month: Ringo Light

Most Denmark trips are Copenhagen plus a few days out: the castles up the coast, a train across to Aarhus, maybe the west coast. For 15 days of unlimited, Airalo asks $48.50, Saily $48.99 and Holafly $50.50. For a month, $71, $71.99 and $73.90. Ubigi is cheaper at $29 and $39 for a fixed amount at full speed. Ringo Light charges $13.99 for 2 weeks and $26.99 for 30 days, one payment each, nothing renews.

Read what unlimited means before you pick. Airalo gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps. Saily gives 5 GB a day, Nomad 2 GB. Ubigi gives 30 GB for 15 days or 60 GB for the month, then 2 Mbps. Holafly states no daily cap for your own phone and limits sharing to 1 GB a day. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days.

For a short trip, Ringo Light sells no 3-day or 7-day plan. Nomad sells 3 days of unlimited at $11, and Ubigi a week with 20 GB at full speed for $19. Our 2 weeks at $13.99 is still less than any rival charges for a week.

6 · Networks, the bridge to Sweden, and the Faroes

Denmark's main networks are TDC, Telia, Telenor and 3. The country is small and flat, and all of them cover Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, the motorways and the rail lines. The travel eSIMs here ride 3, Telia or TDC.

A Denmark plan covers Denmark only. On the Oresund Bridge and on the ferry from Helsingor, your phone can pick up a Swedish network, and a Denmark plan will not work on it. If Malmo or Helsingborg is on your list, buy a Europe plan instead. The Faroe Islands and Greenland are not covered by a Denmark plan either; check before you fly there.

Which Danish network will my travel eSIM use?+
Airalo rides 3, Holafly 3 and Telia, Nomad 3 and TDC, and Ubigi TDC (Nuuday) and Telia. Saily does not name its network on its listing. All of them cover the cities and the main roads and rail lines well.
Is an unlimited eSIM really unlimited in Denmark?+
Every brand has a limit somewhere. Airalo slows you after 3 GB a day, Saily after 5 GB, Nomad after 2 GB, Ubigi after its fixed full-speed amount. Holafly states no daily cap for your own phone. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed.
Do I need an eSIM if my phone plan covers the EU?+
If your home plan is from an EU country, roaming in Denmark is usually included at home prices, within a fair use limit. Travellers from the US, the UK, Canada or Australia usually pay a daily roaming fee, and that is where a travel eSIM saves money. The Faroe Islands and Greenland sit outside the EU roaming rules.
