1 · The short answer
Copenhagen Jazz Festival usually runs for about ten days in early July, with concerts in clubs, concert halls, courtyards and on open air stages around the city. Many concerts are free. Check the organiser's site, jazz.dk, for the exact dates and the programme before you book.
Denmark is inside the EU, so a phone from another EU country roams here at home rates. Visitors from the UK, the US and elsewhere usually pay for roaming or buy a local plan. Ringo Light's Denmark plan gives unlimited data at full speed and installs by scan before you fly.
Ringo Light's Denmark plan covers the whole of Denmark: unlimited data at full speed, 3 days for $8.99, 2 weeks for $16.99 or 30 days for $32.99, nothing renews. The plan is at ringoesim.com/denmark, and every brand's price for Copenhagen is compared on one day in Best eSIM for Copenhagen.

2 · What happens, and where
The festival spreads across the city rather than sitting in one field. Evening concerts are ticketed, and there is a long list of free concerts in squares, parks and by the harbour. Programmes change each year, so open the official programme and save the venues you want in a map list.
Venues are close together in the centre, but a few sit in other districts. Plan a walk or a bike ride between them, and leave a little time between two ticketed concerts.
3 · Getting around: Rejsekort, DOT and the metro
- ✓From the airport. Copenhagen Airport has a metro line and trains to the centre. Both take minutes and run often.
- ✓The DOT app. DOT Billetter is the official ticket app for public transport in the Copenhagen area. Buy a ticket for the zones you need before you board, and keep the phone charged.
- ✓Rejsekort. The Rejsekort travel card is the alternative for longer stays. A visitor staying a few days is usually fine with the app or a ticket.
- ✓Rejseplanen. The national journey planner shows live times for bus, metro, train and harbour bus. Check dot.dk for the current ticket options.
4 · What your phone has to do
- ✓Tickets. Save ticket QR codes in the phone wallet or as a screenshot. Open air stages can have slow data when the crowd is big.
- ✓Cashless. Denmark is close to cashless. Cards and phone payment work almost everywhere. Check that your card works in Danish kroner.
- ✓Maps. Download an offline map of central Copenhagen, with your hotel and the venues marked.
- ✓Emergencies. The emergency number in Denmark is 112.
5 · Roaming in Denmark
EU roaming rules apply in Denmark, so a SIM from another EU country uses its home allowance here within fair use limits. If your plan is from outside the EU, or your allowance is small, a local eSIM avoids a surprise bill.
6 · Which plan covers the festival
Ringo Light's Denmark plan covers the whole country, from Copenhagen to the coast and Jutland, with unlimited data at full speed. It arrives by email and installs in one scan. Carry on to Sweden over the Oresund Bridge and a Europe plan covers the border.
