1 · The short answer
The Carnaval de Nice 2027 runs from 9 to 28 February 2027, under the theme Vive l'Amour, according to the carnival's own site. It is one of the largest carnivals in Europe, with floats, parades and flower battles in the centre of the city. Individual tickets are sold online, ticket booths operate near the site on event days, and the carnival's FAQ says a smartphone ticket is accepted if the screen is bright enough for the barcode to be scanned.
Your phone carries the ticket and the map, and in the evening crowds around the stands it also has to cope with a lot of other phones. Ringo Light's France plan gives you unlimited data at full speed across France, delivered by email and installed with one scan.
If you live in the EU, EU roaming applies in France: your home plan works on the same terms as at home, within its fair use. The France plan suits visitors from outside the EU.

2 · What the Carnival is
The carnival is built around parades of floats and groups through the centre of Nice, evening corsos with lights, and flower battles, in which flowers are thrown from the floats. Programme and times are set each year, so look at the carnival's site for the day you plan to come.
Seating is usually in stands along the route, and standing places are also sold. Check the ticket categories on the official site for what each one allows, and buy before you travel in busy weekends.
3 · Tickets and your phone
- ✓Buy online. Individual tickets are sold through the carnival's online ticket site, and booths operate near the site on event days.
- ✓Phone tickets work. The carnival's FAQ says a smartphone ticket is accepted if the screen's brightness and contrast let the barcode be scanned. Turn the brightness to maximum and save the ticket as an image in case signal fails.
- ✓Do not buy from resellers. Use the official site for tickets and the programme.
4 · Getting there and around
Nice Côte d'Azur airport is linked to the city centre by tram line 2, which makes arriving by air easy. Trains arrive at Nice Ville, and the tram network, run by Lignes d'Azur, links the station, the old town and the Place Masséna. Check the carnival's page for road closures and for tram changes on parade days.
The Promenade des Anglais runs along the seafront and is the area where carnival stands are usually found. On parade evenings, expect closed streets and busy trams, and plan your walk back to the hotel.
5 · Signal around the stands
Mobile coverage in Nice is good, but thousands of people in one stretch of the seafront slow it down. Show the ticket from your wallet, not from a web page that needs to load.
Download an offline map of Nice and save the stop names for your tram. Ride apps and taxis are in short supply at the end of a parade, so a tram route to fall back on is useful.
6 · More of Nice in February
- ✓Old town and Cours Saleya. The market streets of Vieux Nice, a short walk from the carnival site.
- ✓Colline du Château. A park with a view over the bay, reachable on foot or by lift.
- ✓Lemon festival in Menton. A neighbouring town holds a lemon festival in February, reachable by regional train. Check its organiser's site for dates.
