Airalo vs Ubigi in one paragraph

Ubigi is cheaper than Airalo for France at every length both sell, and by a wide margin on the long plans: $25 against $42 for 15 days, $39 against $59 for 30 days, $10 against $17 for 10 GB. But the two sell different things. Airalo's Élan plan is unlimited days, 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps, and it sells a 3-day plan at $11 that Ubigi does not. Ubigi sells a fixed amount at full speed, 25 GB for a week, 30 GB for 15 days, 60 GB for 30 days, then 2 Mbps, on all four French networks with 5G. Airalo does not name its network. Ubigi needs its app for top-ups and its monthly plans renew; Airalo works from the web or its app and nothing renews. Pick Ubigi for a bucket or the lowest price of the two. Pick Airalo for 3 days, or if you want days rather than gigabytes. If the trip is two weeks or a month and you want unlimited, neither is the cheapest: Ringo Light sells 2 weeks at $14.99 and 30 days at $26.99, unlimited data at full speed.

Price: the same trip at each

Priced on 25 October 2026, in US dollars. For 3 days, Airalo asks $11; Ubigi sells no 3-day plan. For a week, $23.50 at Airalo and $20 at Ubigi for 25 GB at full speed. For 15 days, $42 at Airalo and $25 at Ubigi for 30 GB. For 30 days, $59 at Airalo and $39 at Ubigi for 60 GB. Ubigi wins every row where both sell, by $3.50 on the week, $17 on 15 days and $20 on the month.

Ringo Light sells three trips for France: 3 days at $9.99, 2 weeks at $14.99 and 30 days at $26.99. The 2 weeks costs $10.01 less than Ubigi's 15 days at $25 and $27.01 less than Airalo's at $42. The 30 days costs $12.01 less than Ubigi's $39 and $32.01 less than Airalo's $59. For 3 days, Ringo Light at $9.99 is $1.01 under Airalo's $11. Ringo Light sells no 7-day plan; its 2 weeks at $14.99 still costs less than Ubigi's week at $20 or Airalo's at $23.50.

For a fixed amount of data, both rivals sell it and Ringo Light does not. Ubigi sells 10 GB for 30 days at $10 and 25 GB at $19; Airalo sells 10 GB at $17 and 20 GB at $23. If 10 GB is all you need for a month, Ubigi at $10 is cheaper than Ringo Light's 2 weeks at $14.99, and 25 GB at $19 is cheaper than our 30 days at $26.99. We would rather you read that here than at checkout.

What unlimited means at each

Airalo's Élan plan for France gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps for the rest of the day. That is enough for maps, messages and an hour or two of video; a long evening of streaming in HD will hit it. Ubigi does not sell unlimited days at all. Its plans are a fixed amount at full speed, 25 GB for 7 days, 30 GB for 15 days, 60 GB for 30 days, then 2 Mbps. There is no daily cap, so you can use a lot on one day and little on the next, but when the gigabytes are gone you are on 2 Mbps for the rest of the plan. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.

Networks and coverage in France

France has four networks: Orange, SFR, Bouygues Telecom and Free. Ubigi lists all four, with 5G, so your phone picks the strongest signal wherever you are, from Paris to a Provence village or a ski lift in Chamonix. Airalo does not name the network on its Élan plan. Ringo Light rides a local partner network. For Paris, Lyon, Nice and the TGV lines, any of the three works; Ubigi is the one to pick between the two rivals if you want to know which networks you are on before you pay.

Installation, app and support

Airalo lets you buy from its website or its app; either way you get the eSIM to install, and its support chat lives in the app and on the site. Ubigi asks for its app, and you need it for top-ups; its monthly plans renew until you stop them, so switch renewal off if you only want one month. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan, and support is by email. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land at Charles de Gaulle, Orly or Nice.

The cheaper third option: Ringo Light

Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For France it sells three trips, all unlimited data at full speed: 3 days at $9.99, 2 weeks at $14.99 and 30 days at $26.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.

What it does not do: no buckets, no 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data. If you want 10 GB for a month, Ubigi at $10 is the better buy, and its 25 GB at $19 beats our 30 days at $26.99 if 25 GB is enough. If you want all four French networks named before you pay, Ubigi names them and we say local partner network. For 3 days, two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is the cheapest of the three.

How we compared, and our sources

Airalo, Ubigi, Ringo Light

We priced Airalo, Ubigi and Ringo Light for France on 25 October 2026, all on the same day, in US dollars. Each rival's price comes from its own website where it showed dollars, otherwise from an esimdb.com listing, and every source and its date is listed below. Ringo Light's prices come from the catalogue our checkout charges.

We compare the trips people actually book: a week, two weeks and a month of unlimited data, and a 10 GB bucket. We read each brand's fair use and speed rules and quote them as the brands state them. We did not run speed tests, so this page makes no speed claims for any brand.

Ringo Light is our own product. We put it in the table on the same terms as everyone else, and where a rival is the better buy the page says so.

Left out: Holafly. It sells France too, unlimited days only on all four networks, and is priced on the same day in the full comparison at /blog/best-esim-for-france. This page answers one question, Airalo or Ubigi, so it keeps to those two and the cheaper third option. Left out: Saily. It sells France buckets and unlimited days and is priced on the same day at /blog/best-esim-for-france. Left out: Nomad. It sells the cheapest 20 GB for France and is priced on the same day at /blog/best-esim-for-france. Left out: Maya Mobile. It lists only a Global plan for France and its own site refused the fetch, so it stays out rather than being guessed.
