Airalo vs Holafly in one paragraph
Airalo is cheaper than Holafly at every length in the Dominican Republic, from $18.50 against $18.90 for 3 days up: by $1.50 on the week, $2.50 on 15 days and $2.90 on the month. Holafly gives you the simpler product: unlimited days with no stated daily cap, on Altice, installed from a QR code with no app. Airalo gives you more choice, buckets from 1 GB at $6 as well as unlimited, on Altice, but its unlimited slows to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day, and you need its app. Pick Airalo if you want a bucket or the lowest price of the two. Pick Holafly if you stream all evening and never want to think about a daily cap. If the trip is two weeks or a month and you want unlimited, Ringo Light is cheaper than both: $44.99 for 2 weeks and $56.99 for 30 days, unlimited data at full speed.
Price: the same trip at each
Priced on 28 September 2026, in US dollars. For 3 days of unlimited, Airalo asks $18.50 and Holafly $18.90. For a week, $37 at Airalo and $38.50 at Holafly. For 15 days, $60 at Airalo and $62.50 at Holafly. For 30 days, $97 at Airalo and $99.90 at Holafly. Airalo is cheaper in every row, by $1.50 on the week, $2.50 on 15 days and $2.90 on the month.
Ringo Light sells two trips for the Dominican Republic: 2 weeks at $44.99 and 30 days at $56.99. The 2 weeks costs $15.01 less than Airalo's 15 days and $17.51 less than Holafly's. The 30 days costs $40.01 less than Airalo's month and $42.91 less than Holafly's. Ringo Light sells no 3-day or 7-day plan. For a long weekend or a single week, Airalo or Holafly is the cheaper buy: our 2 weeks costs $7.99 more than Airalo's 7 days and $6.49 more than Holafly's.
For a fixed amount of data, Airalo is the only one of the three that sells it: 10 GB for 30 days at $37, 20 GB at $49, 1 GB from $6. Holafly sells no buckets. Ringo Light sells none either, so if 10 GB is all you need, Airalo's $37 is cheaper than our $44.99, and ours lasts 2 weeks, not 30 days. We would rather you read that here than at checkout.
What unlimited means at each
Airalo's unlimited for the Dominican Republic gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps for the rest of the day. That is enough for maps, messages and an hour or two of video; a long evening of streaming in HD will hit it. Holafly states no daily cap for your own phone in the Dominican Republic and limits hotspot sharing to 1 GB a day. It sells days, not gigabytes. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic has two big networks, Claro and Altice, and a smaller one, Viva. Claro and Altice both cover Santo Domingo, Santiago, Punta Cana, Bávaro and the north coast towns. Signal thins out away from the towns. Holafly's own page names the Cordillera Central, Los Haitises, the Samaná Peninsula and the Sierra de Bahoruco as places where coverage can be weaker. Download offline maps before you drive into the mountains or take a boat, whichever eSIM you buy.
Airalo rides Altice. Holafly rides Altice. Ringo Light rides a local partner network.
Installation, app and support
Airalo needs its app: you buy and install inside it. Holafly needs no app; you install it from a QR code. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan. Install it at home on Wi-Fi before you fly and switch it on for data when you land in Punta Cana or Santo Domingo.
The cheaper third option: Ringo Light
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For the Dominican Republic it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $44.99 and 30 days at $56.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.
What it does not do: no buckets, no 3-day or 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data. If you want 10 GB for a month, Airalo at $37 is the better buy. If you want 3 days, Airalo or Holafly at $18.50 or $18.90 is cheaper than anything we sell. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is cheaper than both.
