Airalo vs Nomad in one paragraph
For a bucket in the Dominican Republic, Nomad is the cheaper of the two: $27 against $37 for 10 GB ($10 less) and $31 against $49 for 20 GB ($18 less), each for 30 days. Nomad sells no unlimited. Airalo does, at $18.50 for 3 days up to $97 for 30 days, 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps. Nomad rides Claro and Airalo rides Altice, which matters if one network is weak where you stay. Pick Nomad for a bucket or if you want Claro. Pick Airalo if you want unlimited for 3, 7, 15 or 30 days. If the trip is two weeks or a month and you want unlimited, Ringo Light sells $44.99 for 2 weeks and $56.99 for 30 days, unlimited data at full speed.
Price: the same trip at each
Priced on 28 September 2026, in US dollars. For 10 GB for 30 days, Nomad asks $27 and Airalo $37. For 20 GB for 30 days, Nomad asks $31 and Airalo $49. Nomad is cheaper on both, by $10 and $18. Nomad also sells 50 GB for 30 days at $65.
Unlimited is one-sided. Airalo sells 3 days at $18.50, 7 days at $37, 15 days at $60 and 30 days at $97. Nomad sells no unlimited here, so there is no Nomad price to set against them.
Ringo Light sells two trips for the Dominican Republic: 2 weeks at $44.99 and 30 days at $56.99. The 2 weeks costs $15.01 less than Airalo's 15 days, and the 30 days costs $40.01 less than Airalo's month. For a fixed amount of data, Nomad's 10 GB at $27 and Airalo's at $37 are both cheaper than our $44.99, and ours lasts 2 weeks, not 30 days. Ringo Light sells no 3-day or 7-day plan.
What unlimited means at each
Airalo's unlimited for the Dominican Republic gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps for the rest of the day. That is enough for maps, messages and an hour or two of video; a long evening of streaming in HD will hit it. Nomad sells no unlimited for the Dominican Republic, only buckets. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic has two big networks, Claro and Altice, and a smaller one, Viva. Claro and Altice both cover Santo Domingo, Santiago, Punta Cana, Bávaro and the north coast towns. Signal thins out away from the towns. Holafly's own page names the Cordillera Central, Los Haitises, the Samaná Peninsula and the Sierra de Bahoruco as places where coverage can be weaker. Download offline maps before you drive into the mountains or take a boat, whichever eSIM you buy.
Airalo rides Altice. Nomad rides Claro, the one network here that the other brands in this comparison do not use. Ringo Light rides a local partner network.
Installation, app and support
Airalo needs its app: you buy and install inside it. Nomad's app is optional. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan. Install it at home on Wi-Fi before you fly and switch it on for data when you land in Punta Cana or Santo Domingo.
The cheaper third option: Ringo Light
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For the Dominican Republic it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $44.99 and 30 days at $56.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.
What it does not do: no buckets, no 3-day or 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data. If you want 10 GB for a month, Nomad at $27 is the better buy. If you want 3 or 7 days, Airalo is cheaper than anything we sell. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is cheaper than Airalo, and Nomad sells none.
