Airalo vs Ringo Light in one paragraph
For two weeks or a month of unlimited in the Dominican Republic, Ringo Light is cheaper than Airalo, and not by a little. Two weeks is $44.99 against $60 for 15 days, $15.01 less. A month is $56.99 against $97, $40.01 less. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed; Airalo gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps. Airalo wins everything Ringo Light does not sell: 3 days at $18.50 and 7 days at $37, data buckets from 1 GB at $6 up to 20 GB at $49, a named network (Altice), and an app that shows your balance and tops you up. Pick Ringo Light if you want unlimited for two weeks or a month. Pick Airalo if you want a short plan, a bucket that lasts 30 days, a named network, or the comfort of the app.
Price: the same trip at each
Priced on 28 September 2026, in US dollars. For 3 days of unlimited, Airalo asks $18.50; Ringo Light sells no 3-day plan. For a week, Airalo asks $37; Ringo Light sells no 7-day plan, and its 2 weeks at $44.99 costs $7.99 more than Airalo's week. For 15 days, Airalo asks $60 against our $44.99 for 2 weeks. For a month, Airalo asks $97 against our $56.99. So for the two lengths Ringo Light sells, it is cheaper, by $15.01 and $40.01.
For a fixed amount of data, Airalo is the only one of the two that sells it: 1 GB from $6, 10 GB for 30 days at $37, 20 GB for 30 days at $49. Ringo Light sells no buckets. Its 2 weeks of unlimited at $44.99 costs $7.99 more than Airalo's 10 GB, and it lasts 2 weeks, not 30 days. If you need a little data to last a whole month, Airalo's 10 GB is the better buy, and we would rather you read that here than at checkout. The 10 GB chart above shows the two side by side for that reason.
The two-week chart carries Ringo Light's 2 weeks against Airalo's 15 days, the nearest lengths. The month chart is like for like, 30 days at each.
What unlimited means at each
Airalo's unlimited for the Dominican Republic gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps for the rest of the day. That is enough for maps, messages and an hour or two of video; a long evening of streaming in HD will hit it. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic has two big networks, Claro and Altice, and a smaller one, Viva. Claro and Altice both cover Santo Domingo, Santiago, Punta Cana, Bávaro and the north coast towns. Signal thins out away from the towns. Holafly's own page names the Cordillera Central, Los Haitises, the Samaná Peninsula and the Sierra de Bahoruco as places where coverage can be weaker. Download offline maps before you drive into the mountains or take a boat, whichever eSIM you buy.
Airalo rides Altice. Ringo Light rides a local partner network.
Installation, app and support
Airalo needs its app: you buy and install inside it. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan. Install it at home on Wi-Fi before you fly and switch it on for data when you land in Punta Cana or Santo Domingo.
What Ringo Light is, and what it is not
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For the Dominican Republic it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $44.99 and 30 days at $56.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.
What it does not do: no buckets, no 3-day or 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data. If you want 10 GB to last a month, or a named network, or 3 or 7 days, Airalo is the better buy. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is the cheaper of the two by a wide margin.
