Airalo vs Nomad in one paragraph
Nomad is cheaper than Airalo for Mexico everywhere the two overlap: $10 against $10.50 for 3 days of unlimited, $22 against $23.50 for a week, $15.50 against $18.50 for 10 GB and $27.50 against $31 for 20 GB. The catch is length. Nomad sells no 15-day and no 30-day unlimited, and its longest is 10 days at $30. Airalo sells 15 days at $43 and 30 days at $62. So Nomad is the one to pick for a weekend, a week or a bucket, and Airalo is the one of the two if the trip is two weeks or a month and you want unlimited. For those lengths Ringo Light is the cheaper third option: 2 weeks at $42.99 is a cent under Airalo's 15 days, and 30 days at $57.99 is $4.01 under Airalo.
Price: the same trip at each
Priced on 22 October 2026, in US dollars. For 3 days of unlimited, Nomad asks $10 and Airalo $10.50, so Nomad is $0.50 less. For a week, $22 at Nomad and $23.50 at Airalo, $1.50 less. For 10 GB over 30 days, $15.50 at Nomad and $18.50 at Airalo, $3.00 less. For 20 GB, $27.50 at Nomad and $31 at Airalo, $3.50 less.
Past a week the two stop matching. Nomad lists 10 days of unlimited at $30, and Airalo lists no 10-day plan in our snapshot, so we do not compare them. For 15 days Airalo asks $43 and for 30 days $62, and Nomad sells neither, so there is no price to put against them.
Ringo Light sells two trips for Mexico: 2 weeks at $42.99 and 30 days at $57.99. The 2 weeks costs a cent less than Airalo's 15 days at $43, and Airalo gives a day more, so call that one a tie. The 30 days costs $4.01 less than Airalo's $62. Ringo Light sells no 3-day or 7-day plan and no bucket; for those, Nomad is the cheapest of the three.
What unlimited means at each
Airalo's unlimited for Mexico, the Chido plan, gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps until the next day. Nomad gives 2 GB a day at full speed, then slower, so on a heavy day Nomad runs out a gigabyte sooner. That is enough for maps, messages and some video, and a long evening of HD streaming will hit either cap. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in Mexico
Mexico has one big network, Telcel, and two smaller ones, Movistar and AT&T, plus Altan, the shared network other brands rent. Telcel reaches furthest outside the cities, on the highways and in small towns. All of them cover Mexico City, Guadalajara, Oaxaca, Cancun and the Riviera Maya. Airalo rides Movistar. Nomad lists AT&T and Movistar, so the two share Movistar. Neither names Telcel. Ringo Light rides a local partner network.
If you are driving the Yucatan, download the offline map before you leave the coast, whichever eSIM you buy.
Installation and app
Both Airalo and Nomad need their app: you buy, install and top up inside it. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land in Mexico City, Cancun or Guadalajara.
The third option: Ringo Light
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For Mexico it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $42.99 and 30 days at $57.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.
What it does not do: no buckets, no 3-day plan, no 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data. If you want 10 GB for a month, Nomad at $15.50 is the better buy, and if you want 3 days or a week, Nomad at $10 and $22 is cheaper than anything we sell for Mexico. For two weeks, we are a cent under Airalo and Airalo gives a day more. For a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is $4.01 under Airalo, and Nomad has no 30-day unlimited to compare.
