Holafly vs Nomad in one paragraph
Nomad is cheaper than Holafly for Mexico on the short plans, by $1.50 for 3 days of unlimited ($10 against $11.50) and $2.50 for a week ($22 against $24.50), and it is the only one of the two that sells buckets, 10 GB at $15.50 and 20 GB at $27.50. Holafly is the only one that sells unlimited for 15 days at $44.90 or 30 days at $66.50; Nomad's longest unlimited is 10 days at $30. Holafly also states no daily cap for your own phone and rides Telcel, where Nomad gives 2 GB a day at full speed and lists AT&T and Movistar. Pick Nomad for a weekend, a week or a bucket, Holafly for two weeks or a month of unlimited. For those lengths Ringo Light is cheaper than Holafly: 2 weeks at $42.99 and 30 days at $57.99.
Price: the same trip at each
Priced on 22 October 2026, in US dollars. For 3 days of unlimited, Nomad asks $10 and Holafly $11.50. For a week, $22 at Nomad and $24.50 at Holafly. Nomad wins both rows, by $1.50 and $2.50. Nomad also sells 10 days of unlimited at $30, and Holafly lists no 10-day plan in our snapshot, so we do not compare them.
For 15 days, Holafly asks $44.90, and for 30 days $66.50. Nomad sells neither length of unlimited, so there is no price to put against them. For a fixed amount of data, only Nomad sells it: 10 GB for 30 days at $15.50 and 20 GB at $27.50. Holafly sells no buckets.
Ringo Light sells two trips for Mexico: 2 weeks at $42.99 and 30 days at $57.99. The 2 weeks costs $1.91 less than Holafly's 15 days at $44.90, and the 30 days $8.51 less than Holafly's $66.50. Ringo Light sells no 3-day, 7-day or bucket plan, so for those Nomad is the cheapest of the three.
What unlimited means at each
Holafly states no daily cap for your own phone and limits hotspot sharing to 1 GB a day, so it is the one to pick between the two if you share data to a laptop, but only up to that 1 GB. Nomad gives 2 GB a day at full speed, then slower, so on a heavy day it runs out sooner. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in Mexico
Mexico has one big network, Telcel, and two smaller ones, Movistar and AT&T, plus Altan, the shared network other brands rent. Telcel reaches furthest outside the cities, on the highways and in small towns. All of them cover Mexico City, Guadalajara, Oaxaca, Cancun and the Riviera Maya. Holafly lists Movistar and Telcel, so between the two it is the one with Telcel. Nomad lists AT&T and Movistar. Ringo Light rides a local partner network.
Holafly's own page says its plan does not work on Holbox Island, Contoy Island and in some remote stretches between Playa del Carmen and Merida. If you are driving the Yucatan, download the offline map before you leave the coast, whichever eSIM you buy.
Installation and app
Nomad needs its app: you buy, install and top up inside it. Holafly needs its app only for the data balance. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land in Mexico City, Cancun or Guadalajara.
The third option: Ringo Light
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For Mexico it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $42.99 and 30 days at $57.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.
What it does not do: no buckets, no 3-day plan, no 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data. If you want 10 GB for a month, Nomad at $15.50 is the better buy, far under our $42.99. If you want 3 days or a week, Nomad at $10 and $22 is cheaper than anything we sell for Mexico. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is cheaper than Holafly, and Nomad sells neither length.
