1 · The short answer
The 47th Cairo International Film Festival is listed for 11 to 20 November 2026 on the festival's own site. It is one of the long running film festivals in the Arab world and the region, with the Cairo Opera House given as the festival's address. The festival site has the programme, and an official app is available from the App Store and Google Play.
Cairo is large and busy, so how you move between screenings matters. The metro, Uber and Careem all work for visitors, and all depend on a phone with data.
Ringo Light's Egypt plan covers the whole country with unlimited data at full speed. It arrives by email and installs in one scan. A local SIM in Egypt needs passport registration, so many visitors set up data before they fly instead.

2 · What happens
The festival shows films from many countries over ten days, with competition screenings, special programmes and events for visitors and industry guests. The festival's site lists the Cairo Opera House in Zamalek as its address but does not say which other venues are used, so check the programme page for where each screening is held.
Ticketing arrangements and how to book are set out on the festival's own pages and app. Check there for current details, and save your tickets on the phone before you set out.
3 · Getting around Cairo
- ✓Metro: Cairo's metro is the quickest way across the city at busy hours and runs on a few lines. Check which station is closest to each venue, and note that carriages can be very full at rush hour.
- ✓Uber and Careem: Both are widely used in Cairo. They show a fare before you book and need data to hail and to follow your driver.
- ✓Traffic: Cairo traffic is heavy in the evening. Leave extra time between a screening and your next one.
- ✓Late nights: Book a ride in the app rather than hailing on the street after an evening screening.
4 · What your phone has to do
- ✓Tickets and the programme: Keep screening tickets, the schedule and the festival app on your phone, with screenshots as a backup.
- ✓Maps: Download an offline map of central Cairo. Street names can be hard to match on a map, so save each venue's pin.
- ✓Payments: Cards are accepted in many hotels and restaurants, but cash is still common for small purchases and taxis. Ask before you ride.
- ✓Signal: Coverage in the city is generally good, though it can be slow in a crowd outside a venue.
5 · November in Cairo
November is usually mild and dry in Cairo, which makes walking between sights comfortable. The city is busy at any time of year, so plan your evenings around the screenings you most want to see.
6 · Which plan covers the trip
Ringo Light's Egypt plan covers Cairo, Giza, Luxor, Aswan and the Red Sea coast with unlimited data at full speed, enough for ride apps, maps and video calls. If you are adding other countries, the Global plan covers your route.
