Airalo vs Holafly in one paragraph
Airalo is cheaper than Holafly for Egypt at every length, by 40 cents on 3 days, by $4.50 on a week, by $1.50 on 15 days and by $5.90 on the month. Holafly gives you the simpler product: unlimited days with no stated daily cap, installed from a QR code with no app, on Orange. Airalo gives you more choice, buckets from $5.50 for 1 GB as well as unlimited, but its unlimited slows to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day, and you need its app. Pick Airalo if you want a bucket or the lowest price of the two. Pick Holafly if you stream all evening and never want to think about a daily cap. If the trip is two weeks or a month and you want unlimited, neither is the cheapest: Ringo Light sells 2 weeks at $18.99 and 30 days at $40.99, unlimited data at full speed.
Price: the same trip at each
Priced on 25 October 2026, in US dollars, from each brand's own site. For 3 days of unlimited, Airalo asks $19.50 and Holafly $19.90. For a week, $32 at Airalo and $36.50 at Holafly. For 15 days, $49 at Airalo and $50.50 at Holafly. For 30 days, $90 at Airalo and $95.90 at Holafly. Airalo wins every row of the two.
Ringo Light sells two trips for Egypt: 2 weeks at $18.99 and 30 days at $40.99. The 2 weeks costs less than half of Airalo's 15 days at $49 or Holafly's at $50.50. The 30 days costs less than half of Airalo's $90 and Holafly's $95.90. Ringo Light sells no 3-day plan and no 7-day plan. For 3 days, Airalo at $19.50 is the cheapest of the three. For a week, Ringo Light's 2 weeks at $18.99 still costs less than Airalo's week at $32 or Holafly's at $36.50, with a week of days left over, but if you want a plan that is exactly 7 days, only Airalo and Holafly sell one.
For a fixed amount of data, Airalo is the only one of the three that sells it, from $5.50 for 1 GB. Its 10 GB is $33 and its 20 GB $42, both for 30 days, from the esimdb listing dated 5 October 2026. Holafly sells no buckets. Ringo Light sells no buckets either. If a small bucket is all you need, Airalo is the one of these two to look at, and we would rather you read that here than at checkout.
What unlimited means at each
Airalo's unlimited for Egypt gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps for the rest of the day. That is enough for maps, messages and an hour or two of video; a long evening of streaming in HD will hit it. Holafly states no daily cap for your own phone and limits hotspot sharing to 1 GB a day, so Holafly is the one to pick between the two if you share data to a laptop every day, but only up to that 1 GB. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in Egypt
Egypt has four networks: Vodafone, Orange, e& (once Etisalat) and WE. Vodafone and Orange carry most travel eSIMs. Airalo names Vodafone and Holafly names Orange; Ringo Light rides a local partner network. Coverage on all of them follows the Nile valley, Cairo, Alexandria and the Red Sea resorts, where nearly everyone lives. Out in the desert, on the road south to Abu Simbel or towards the Western Desert oases, signal thins out on every network. Download offline maps before those drives, whichever of the three you pick.
Installation, app and support
Airalo needs its app: you buy, install and top up inside it, and that is also where its support chat lives. Holafly does not need one; it sends a QR code you scan in your phone's settings, and its app is optional. Ringo Light needs no app either; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan, and support is by email. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land.
There is one more reason to use a travel eSIM in Egypt rather than a local SIM. Since 21 January 2026, a phone bought abroad that goes onto an Egyptian SIM owes customs fees, with a 90-day exemption for tourists from the day the phone is activated on the network, and a local SIM has to be bought in person with your passport. Airalo, Holafly and Ringo Light all install before you fly, need no counter and no passport copy, and work from the moment you land.
The cheaper third option: Ringo Light
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For Egypt it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $18.99 and 30 days at $40.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.
What it does not do: no buckets, no 3-day plan, no 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data. If you want 3 days, Airalo at $19.50 is the cheapest of the three. If you want a small bucket, Airalo is the only one of the three that sells one. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is the cheapest of the three by a wide margin.
