Airalo vs Holafly in one paragraph

Airalo and Holafly charge the same $12.50 for 3 days of unlimited in Moldova. For a week, Holafly is cheaper by $2: $27.50 against $29.50. Past ten days the gap opens, because Airalo's Moldova unlimited stops at 10 days (it sells that at $35). For 15 days or a month you are on its Discover global plan, $96 and $159, while Holafly sells Moldova-only unlimited at $50.50 for 15 days and $73.90 for 30. Airalo gives you more choice: buckets of 10 GB at $29.50 and 20 GB at $49, and 1 GB from $4.50. Its unlimited slows to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day, and you need its app. Holafly gives you the simpler product: unlimited days with no stated daily cap, installed from a QR code, on three networks. Pick Airalo for a bucket. Pick Holafly for a week or longer. If the trip is two weeks or a month and you want unlimited, neither is the cheapest: Ringo Light sells 2 weeks at $22.99 and 30 days at $45.99, unlimited data at full speed.

Price: the same trip at each

Priced on 28 September 2026, in US dollars. For 3 days of unlimited, Airalo and Holafly both ask $12.50. For a week, $29.50 at Airalo and $27.50 at Holafly. For 15 days, $96 at Airalo on its Discover global plan and $50.50 at Holafly. For 30 days, $159 at Airalo on the same global plan and $73.90 at Holafly. Holafly wins every row from a week up, by $2 on the week and by far more on the long plans.

Ringo Light sells two trips for Moldova: 2 weeks at $22.99 and 30 days at $45.99. The 2 weeks costs less than either brand's 7 days, $29.50 at Airalo and $27.50 at Holafly, with a week of days left over, and less than half of Holafly's 15 days at $50.50. The 30 days costs $27.91 less than Holafly's $73.90. Ringo Light sells no 3-day plan: for a long weekend, Airalo or Holafly at $12.50 is the cheaper buy.

For a fixed amount of data, Airalo is the only one of the three that sells it: 10 GB for 30 days at $29.50, 20 GB at $49. Holafly sells no buckets. Ringo Light sells no buckets either. If you want 10 GB to last a month, Airalo is the one to buy, and its 20 GB at $49 is within $3.01 of our month of unlimited at $45.99. We would rather you read that here than at checkout.

What unlimited means at each

Airalo's unlimited for Moldova gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps for the rest of the day. That is enough for maps, messages and an hour or two of video; a long evening of streaming will hit it. Holafly states no daily cap for your own phone and limits hotspot sharing to 1 GB a day, so Holafly is the one to pick between the two if you stream a lot, but only up to that 1 GB when you share. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.

Networks and coverage in Moldova

Moldova has three networks: Orange, Moldcell and Moldtelecom, which sells mobile under the Unite name. Orange is the biggest. Airalo rides Orange. Holafly lists all three. Ringo Light rides a local partner network. All of them cover Chisinau, the towns and the main roads; in the river valleys around Orheiul Vechi, Saharna and Tipova, signal can thin on any network.

Since 1 January 2026, Moldova has been part of the EU's roam like at home area, so a phone plan from an EU country works there within its normal allowance. Visitors from the UK, the US and elsewhere still pay their own roaming rates, and that is where a travel eSIM earns its keep.

Installation, app and support

Airalo needs its app: you buy, install and top up inside it, and that is also where its support chat lives. Holafly needs no app; it sends a QR code you scan in your phone's settings. Ringo Light needs no app either; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan, and support is by email. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land in Chisinau.

The cheaper third option: Ringo Light

Ringo Light is our own data eSIM. For Moldova it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $22.99 and 30 days at $45.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.

What it does not do: no buckets, no 3-day or 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data. If you want 10 GB for a month, Airalo at $29.50 is the better buy. If you want 3 days, Airalo or Holafly at $12.50 is cheaper than anything we sell. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is the cheapest of the three, and our 2 weeks at $22.99 costs less than either brand's 7 days.
