The short answer
Nomad is cheaper than Airalo for a data bucket in Moldova: $25 against $29.50 for 10 GB, $34 against $49 for 20 GB, both for 30 days and both on Orange. Nomad sells no unlimited for Moldova; Airalo does, 3 days at $12.50 and a week at $29.50, but its Moldova unlimited stops at 10 days. Ringo Light, the third option, is unlimited data at full speed for 2 weeks at $22.99 or 30 days at $45.99, and sells no buckets.
Unlimited data at full speed for 2 weeks at $22.99 or 30 days at $45.99, nothing renews, no app. Airalo's global plan asks $96 for 15 days and $159 for a month; Nomad sells no unlimited. No buckets.

3 days of unlimited at $12.50, a week at $29.50, 10 days at $35 on Orange, 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps. 10 GB at $29.50, 20 GB at $49, 1 GB from $4.50. Needs its app.

Airalo vs Nomad in one paragraph
For a data bucket in Moldova, Nomad is cheaper than Airalo: $25 against $29.50 for 10 GB, and $34 against $49 for 20 GB, a difference of $4.50 and $15. Both ride Orange, so you pay less for the same network. The two sell different things beyond that. Nomad sells buckets and nothing else for Moldova. Airalo also sells unlimited days: 3 days at $12.50 and a week at $29.50, though its Moldova unlimited stops at 10 days, so 15 days or a month means its Discover global plan at $96 and $159. Its unlimited slows to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day, and you need its app; Nomad's app is optional. Pick Nomad if a bucket is all you need. Pick Airalo if you want 3 or 7 days of unlimited, or a 1 GB bucket from $4.50. If the trip is two weeks or a month and you want unlimited, neither is the answer: Ringo Light sells 2 weeks at $22.99 and 30 days at $45.99, unlimited data at full speed.
Price: the same trip at each
Priced on 28 September 2026, in US dollars. For 10 GB over 30 days, $25 at Nomad and $29.50 at Airalo. For 20 GB, $34 at Nomad and $49 at Airalo. Nomad wins both rows. For unlimited, only Airalo sells it: $12.50 for 3 days, $29.50 for a week, $35 for 10 days on its Moldova plan, and $96 for 15 days or $159 for 30 on its Discover global plan.
Ringo Light sells two trips for Moldova: 2 weeks at $22.99 and 30 days at $45.99. The 2 weeks costs $6.51 less than Airalo's 7 days at $29.50, $12.01 less than its 10 days at $35, and less than a quarter of its 15-day global plan at $96. The 30 days costs less than a third of Airalo's $159. Ringo Light sells no 3-day plan: for a long weekend, Airalo at $12.50 is the cheaper buy.
For a fixed amount of data, Ringo Light sells no buckets. If you want 10 GB to last a month, Nomad at $25 is the one to buy, and its 20 GB at $34 costs $11.99 less than our month of unlimited at $45.99. We would rather you read that here than at checkout.
What unlimited means at each
Nomad sells no unlimited plan for Moldova, only buckets, so the question is how much data you need. Airalo's unlimited for Moldova gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps for the rest of the day. That is enough for maps, messages and an hour or two of video; a long evening of streaming will hit it. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in Moldova
Moldova has three networks: Orange, Moldcell and Moldtelecom, which sells mobile under the Unite name. Orange is the biggest, and both Airalo and Nomad ride it. Ringo Light rides a local partner network. All of them cover Chisinau, the towns and the main roads; in the river valleys around Orheiul Vechi, Saharna and Tipova, signal can thin on any network.
Transnistria, the strip east of the Dniester, is a separate question. Of the brands priced in the full comparison, only Nomad mentions it: its Moldova page says its coverage runs from Tiraspol to Chisinau. Airalo says nothing either way, and Ringo Light makes no claim for it. If your trip goes there, ask the brand before you buy.
Since 1 January 2026, Moldova has been part of the EU's roam like at home area, so a phone plan from an EU country works there within its normal allowance. Visitors from the UK, the US and elsewhere still pay their own roaming rates.
Installation, app and support
Airalo needs its app: you buy, install and top up inside it, and that is also where its support chat lives. Nomad's app is optional. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan, and support is by email. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land in Chisinau.
The cheaper third option: Ringo Light
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM. For Moldova it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $22.99 and 30 days at $45.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.
What it does not do: no buckets, no 3-day or 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data. If you want 10 GB for a month, Nomad at $25 is the better buy. If you want 3 days, Airalo at $12.50 is cheaper than anything we sell. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is the cheapest of the three, and Nomad sells no unlimited at all.
