Airalo vs Nomad in one paragraph
Nomad is cheaper than Airalo for Australia on every plan both sell: by $0.50 for 3 days of unlimited, by $1.50 for a week, by $3 for 10 GB and by $6 for 20 GB. Airalo is the one to pick for a longer unlimited trip, because it sells 15 days at $45 and 30 days at $66.50, and Nomad does not: its longest unlimited is 10 days at $29. Nomad also lists Telstra on its data buckets, which reaches furthest into the outback, while its unlimited plans and all of Airalo's ride Optus. Both slow you down on unlimited: Airalo after 3 GB a day, Nomad after 2 GB. If the trip is two weeks or a month and you want unlimited, neither is the cheapest: Ringo Light sells 2 weeks at $23.99 and 30 days at $35.99, unlimited data at full speed.
Price: the same trip at each
Priced on 25 October 2026, in US dollars. For 3 days of unlimited, Airalo asks $11.50 and Nomad $11. For a week, $26.50 at Airalo and $25 at Nomad. Nomad then stops at 10 days for $29, and sells no 15-day or 30-day unlimited. Airalo sells 15 days at $45 and 30 days at $66.50, so past 10 days Airalo is the only one of the two you can buy.
For a fixed amount of data, Nomad is cheaper again: 10 GB for 30 days at $15 against $18 at Airalo, and 20 GB at $24 against $30.
Ringo Light sells two trips for Australia: 2 weeks at $23.99 and 30 days at $35.99. The 2 weeks costs $21.01 less than Airalo's 15 days at $45, $5.01 less than Nomad's 10 days at $29, and less than either brand's one week: $1.01 under Nomad's $25 and $2.51 under Airalo's $26.50. The 30 days costs $30.51 less than Airalo's $66.50, and Nomad sells no 30-day unlimited. Ringo Light sells no 3-day plan and no 7-day plan: for 3 days, Nomad at $11 is the cheapest of the three.
Ringo Light sells no buckets. If 10 GB has to last a whole month, Nomad at $15 is the better buy, and Airalo's $18 is cheaper than our 2 weeks at $23.99. Nomad's 20 GB at $24 and Airalo's at $30 both cost less than our 30 days at $35.99, if a bucket is enough. We would rather you read that here than at checkout.
What unlimited means at each
Airalo's unlimited for Australia gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps until the next day. Nomad gives 2 GB a day at full speed, then slower. Both are enough for maps, messages and some video; a long evening of streaming in HD will hit either, Nomad sooner. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in Australia
Australia is the one country where the network matters as much as the price. Telstra covers far more of the outback and the highways than Optus. Nomad lists Telstra on its data buckets, as well as Optus, with 5G. Its unlimited plans ride Optus, as do all of Airalo's plans. Ringo Light rides a local partner network. For Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the east coast, any of the three works. For a road trip through the Red Centre or the Nullarbor, a Nomad bucket is the only one of these three that lists Telstra. Whichever you pick, download offline maps before you leave the coast.
Installation, app and support
Airalo sells on the web or in its app; you can buy and install without the app, and its support chat lives on both. Nomad's app is optional. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan, and support is by email. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
The cheaper third option: Ringo Light
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For Australia it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $23.99 and 30 days at $35.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.
What it does not do: no buckets, no 3-day plan, no 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data. If you want 10 GB for a month, Nomad at $15 is the better buy. For 3 days, Nomad at $11 is the cheapest. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light at $23.99 or $35.99 is the cheapest of the three.

How we compared, and our sources
Airalo, Nomad, Ringo Light
We priced Airalo, Nomad and Ringo Light for Australia on 25 October 2026, all on the same day, in US dollars. Each rival's price comes from its own website where it showed dollars, otherwise from an esimdb.com listing, and every source and its date is listed below. Ringo Light's prices come from the catalogue our checkout charges.
We compare the trips people actually book: a week, two weeks and a month of unlimited data, and a 10 GB bucket. We read each brand's fair use and speed rules and quote them as the brands state them. We did not run speed tests, so this page makes no speed claims for any brand.
Ringo Light is our own product. We put it in the table on the same terms as everyone else, and where a rival is the better buy the page says so.
Left out: Holafly, Saily and Ubigi. They sell Australia too and are priced on the same day in the full comparison at /blog/best-esim-for-australia. This page answers one question, Airalo or Nomad, so it keeps to those two and the cheaper third option. Left out: Maya Mobile. It lists only a Global plan for Australia and its own site refused the fetch, so it stays out rather than being guessed.
- Airalo: www.airalo.com/australia-esim?currency=USD, unlimited read on the site in dollars, 25 October 2026; buckets (10 GB $18, 20 GB $30) from the esimdb listing dated 4 October 2026
- Nomad: www.nomadesim.com/australia-esim, dollar prices and networks read from the page data, 25 October 2026 (the page shows euros)
