2 · Getting between host cities

Australia is huge: Perth to Sydney is a flight of four to five hours, and even Brisbane to Sydney is over an hour in the air. Book domestic flights early, especially around the knockout weekends. Each stadium is well served by public transport on match days, and match tickets in Australian host cities have often included public transport on the day; check the details for your match.

Download each city's transport app or use Google Maps, which has live times for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth. Opal in Sydney and the other cities' cards and contactless systems mean you can usually tap a card or phone to ride.

3 · Tickets and the official apps

  • ✓Official ticketing. Tickets are sold through the official Rugby World Cup 2027 ticketing site, with official hospitality and travel packages as a separate route. Buy only from official channels.
  • ✓Mobile tickets. Expect your tickets to be mobile. Load them in the official app or wallet before match day so they open without signal.
  • ✓Official app. Fixtures, results and stadium information. Kickoff times are in local time, and Perth is two or three hours behind Sydney.
  • ✓Paying. Australian stadiums are largely cashless. Bring a card or phone wallet that works without foreign fees.

4 · Signal in a packed stadium

Stadium Australia holds over 80,000 people for the final, and Perth Stadium and Brisbane Stadium will be full for the big matches. With every fan sending photos at kickoff and full time, uploads slow down sharply. Keep your ticket in the phone wallet, agree a meeting point with your group, and send videos once you are out of the crowd.

Train stations after the final whistle are the other pinch point. Save the timetable for your ride home before the match starts.

5 · Queueing tips

Gates usually open well before kickoff, and the lines are worst in the last half hour. Arrive early, check the stadium's bag policy, and travel light. After the match, waiting 20 minutes in the stadium or a nearby pub often beats the rush for the trains.

6 · Australia around the matches

Every host city is a destination. In Sydney, the Opera House, the harbour and Bondi Beach. In Perth, Kings Park looks over the Swan River. In Brisbane, South Bank and the river walk are a short stroll from the city centre. October and November are spring in Australia, good weather for the coast.
