The short answer
Airalo is cheaper than Holafly at every length they both sell, though never by much: $11.50 against $11.90 for 3 days, $27 against $27.50 for a week, $48 against $50.50 for 15 days and $69 against $73.90 for 30. What really separates them is the daily limit: Airalo slows to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day, while Holafly states no cap for your own phone and stops hotspot sharing at 1 GB a day. Ringo Light, our third option, is unlimited data at full speed, priced at $8.99 for 3 days, $14.99 for 2 weeks and $26.99 for 30 days, and it sells no 7-day plan.
Unlimited data at full speed: $8.99 for 3 days, $14.99 for 2 weeks and $26.99 for 30 days. One payment, nothing renews, no app. There is no 7-day plan and no bucket.
$11.50 for 3 days, $27 for a week, $48 for 15 days and $69 for 30 days of unlimited, slowing to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day. Buckets too: 10 GB for 30 days at $19, 20 GB at $32. It rides Vodafone and Yettel and needs its app.
$11.90 for 3 days, $27.50 for a week, $50.50 for 15 days and $73.90 for 30 days, sold in days with no buckets. Your own phone has no stated cap; sharing stops at 1 GB a day. It rides Yettel and Vodafone and installs from a QR code.

The prices, charted
US dollars, 28 September 2026. Ringo Light sells 2 weeks, the rivals 15 days. Airalo: 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps. Holafly: no daily cap stated for your own phone; sharing limited to 1 GB a day. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed.
The 30-day plan at each brand. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed.
Holafly sells no buckets, so it has no bar here. Ringo Light sells no bucket either: its 2 weeks is unlimited, and lasts 2 weeks, not 30 days. For a fixed 10 GB, Airalo is the only one of the two that sells it.

Airalo vs Holafly in one paragraph
Airalo is cheaper than Holafly at every length both sell, by $0.40 on 3 days and $4.90 on 30. Only Airalo sells buckets here: 10 GB for 30 days at $19 and 20 GB at $32. The other fact is the daily limit. Airalo slows to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day; Holafly states no cap for your own phone and limits sharing to 1 GB a day. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, neither is the cheapest: Ringo Light is $14.99 and $26.99, unlimited data at full speed.
Price: the same trip at each
Prices are in US dollars, taken on 28 September 2026. Airalo is under Holafly at all four lengths. The gap is $0.40 on 3 days, $0.50 on a week, $2.50 on 15 days and $4.90 on 30 days, so the saving grows with the trip but stays small.
Ringo Light is cheaper than both at every length it sells. Three days is $8.99, against $11.50 at Airalo and $11.90 at Holafly. Two weeks is $14.99, which is less than either brand asks for one week ($27 and $27.50) and leaves a week of days over. Thirty days is $26.99, against $69 and $73.90.
Only Airalo sells a fixed amount of data: 10 GB for 30 days at $19 and 20 GB at $32. Holafly sells days, not gigabytes, and Ringo Light has no buckets either. Our 2 weeks at $14.99 is less than Airalo's 10 GB, but it is unlimited data at full speed and ends after 2 weeks, not 30 days. Our 30 days at $26.99 is less than Airalo's 20 GB. We would rather you read that here than at checkout. Ubigi's 10 GB for 30 days at $11 is cheaper than our 2 weeks at $14.99, and the full comparison at /blog/best-esim-for-hungary has it.
What unlimited means at each
Airalo's unlimited for Hungary, the Szia! plan, gives 3 GB a day at full speed and then 1 Mbps. That is plenty for maps, messages and photos, and a long evening of HD streaming or a laptop on the hotspot is what reaches the limit. Holafly states no cap for your own phone, but it limits sharing to 1 GB a day, so a daily laptop user hits a ceiling there too. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole trip, whichever length you pick. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in Hungary
Hungary has three networks. Magyar Telekom has the widest rural coverage, and none of the brands here names it. Yettel was called Telenor until 2022 and One was Vodafone Hungary until 2024, which is why several brands still say Vodafone. All three cover Budapest, Lake Balaton and the main towns well, with 5G in the cities. Airalo and Holafly name the same two networks, Vodafone and Yettel, and Ringo Light uses a local partner network.
Hungary is in the EU, so a home plan from another EU country usually roams there at home prices. If that is you, you may not need a travel eSIM at all.
Installation and app
Airalo wants you to buy and install inside its app. Holafly sends a QR code to scan in your phone's settings, with no app. Ringo Light needs no app: the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan. Whichever you pick, install at home before you fly and switch on data when you land.
The cheaper third option: Ringo Light
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM. For Hungary it sells three trips, all unlimited data at full speed: 3 days at $8.99, 2 weeks at $14.99 and 30 days at $26.99. You pay once, nothing renews, and there is no app.
It is not for everyone. There are no buckets, no 7-day plan and no phone number, and calls go over apps that use data. If you want a fixed bucket that lasts 30 days, Airalo sells it. For two weeks or a month of unlimited data at full speed, Ringo Light is the cheapest of the three.
Every brand we price for Hungary is in the full comparison at /blog/best-esim-for-hungary, all on the same day. The card to buy Ringo Light is further up this page, after the side-by-side table.
Which to pick
