Airalo vs Ringo Light in one paragraph

Ringo Light is cheaper than Airalo for unlimited at every length it sells, and by a lot. Three days is $8.99 against $11.50. Two weeks is $14.99, against $48 for 15 days at Airalo and $27 for one week. A month is $26.99 against $69. It is also unlimited data at full speed, where Airalo slows to 1 Mbps after 3 GB a day. Airalo wins on what Ringo Light does not sell: a 7-day plan, buckets from $4 for 1 GB, a named network and an app. Pick Ringo Light for unlimited at 3 days, 2 weeks or a month, and Airalo for a bucket that lasts 30 days, a named network or the app.

Price: the same trip at each

Prices are in US dollars, taken on 28 September 2026. Three days of unlimited is $11.50 at Airalo and $8.99 with us. Airalo's week is $27, and we sell no 7-day plan, but our 2 weeks at $14.99 is less than that week and leaves a week over. For 15 days Airalo asks $48, against $14.99 for our 2 weeks. A month is $69 against $26.99.

Only Airalo sells a fixed amount of data: 1 GB from $4, 10 GB for 30 days at $19 and 20 GB at $32. Our 2 weeks of unlimited at $14.99 is $4.01 less than Airalo's 10 GB, though it ends after 2 weeks, not 30. Our 30 days at $26.99 is $5.01 under Airalo's 20 GB. If you need a little data to last a month, Airalo's 10 GB fits better, and we would rather you read that here than at checkout.

The 2-week chart sets Ringo Light's 2 weeks against Airalo's 15 days, because the two sell slightly different lengths. The month chart is like for like. Ubigi's 10 GB for 30 days at $11 is cheaper than our 2 weeks at $14.99, and the full comparison at /blog/best-esim-for-hungary has it.

What unlimited means at each

Airalo's unlimited for Hungary, the Szia! plan, gives 3 GB a day at full speed and then slows to 1 Mbps until the next day. That covers maps, messages, photos and an hour or two of video. A long evening of HD streaming will hit it, and a laptop on the hotspot will hit it sooner. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 3 days, 2 weeks or 30 days, with no daily figure. Fair use policy, see Terms.

Networks and coverage in Hungary

Hungary has three networks. Magyar Telekom has the widest rural coverage, and none of the brands here names it. Yettel was called Telenor until 2022 and One was Vodafone Hungary until 2024, which is why several brands still say Vodafone. All three cover Budapest, Lake Balaton and the main towns well, with 5G in the cities. Airalo lists Vodafone and Yettel, which counts for something: you know the networks before you buy. Ringo Light does not name one and uses a local partner network.

Hungary is in the EU, so a home plan from another EU country usually roams there at home prices. If that is you, you may not need a travel eSIM at all.

Installation and app

Airalo needs its app. You buy and install inside it, and you see what is left there. Ringo Light needs no app: the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan of the QR code. With no bucket there is no balance to watch. Either way, install at home on Wi-Fi and switch on data when you land.

What Ringo Light is, and what it is not

Ringo Light is our own data eSIM. For Hungary it sells three trips, all unlimited data at full speed: 3 days at $8.99, 2 weeks at $14.99 and 30 days at $26.99. You pay once, nothing renews, and there is no app.

What it is not: it is data only and has no phone number, so calls go over apps that use data. It has no buckets and no 7-day plan, and it names no network. There is no balance screen either, because there is nothing to count. If you want 10 GB to last a month, or a named network, Airalo is the better buy. For unlimited at 3 days, 2 weeks or a month, Ringo Light is the cheaper of the two by a wide margin.

Every brand we price for Hungary is in the comparison at /blog/best-esim-for-hungary, all on the same day. The card to buy Ringo Light is further up this page, after the side-by-side table.

Which to pick

  • ✓Ringo Light, if you want unlimited for 3 days, two weeks or a month. $8.99, $14.99 or $26.99 for unlimited data at full speed, under Airalo at each length it sells. Its 2 weeks costs less than Airalo's one week.
  • Airalo, if you want a bucket that lasts 30 days. 10 GB at $19, 20 GB at $32, 1 GB from $4. Ringo Light sells no bucket.
  • Airalo, if you want a named network. Vodafone and Yettel, stated on its own page, where Ringo Light uses a local partner network.
  • Airalo, if you want an app with your balance. You buy, install and see your data in one place. Ringo Light arrives by email, with no balance to watch.

Pick by trip

A long weekend in Budapest

Ringo Light, 3 days, $8.99, against $11.50 at Airalo. If the trip might run on, its 2 weeks is $14.99.

A week out to Lake Balaton and Eger

Ringo Light, 2 weeks, $14.99. Airalo's 7 days is $27 and we sell no 7-day plan, so take 2 weeks for less and let the extra days lapse.

Two weeks, light use, the data must last a month

Airalo's 10 GB for 30 days at $19. Our 2 weeks at $14.99 is unlimited and $4.01 less, but it ends after 2 weeks.

A month in Budapest, laptop on the hotspot

Ringo Light, 30 days, $26.99, against $69 at Airalo, where the hotspot would soon use up 3 GB a day.

You want to see your balance in an app

Airalo: 1 GB from $4, 10 GB at $19 and 20 GB at $32, all inside the app. Ringo Light has no app and no bucket.

Airalo lists Vodafone and Yettel, and Ringo Light rides a local partner network. All of them cover Budapest, Lake Balaton and the main towns.
Do I need an app?+
Airalo, yes: you buy and install inside its app. Ringo Light, no: the eSIM arrives by email and installs in one scan.
