1 · The short answer

Sziget 2027 runs from 10 to 14 August on Óbuda Island, a wooded island in the Danube in the north of Budapest. Most of the crowd camps on the island under the trees, and the Hungarian networks reinforce coverage for the week. Signal is fine across most of the island and slows at the main stage at night, when everyone films the headliner.

Hungary is in the EU, but many festival goers come from outside it, and roaming can be expensive. A Hungary data eSIM installed at home keeps you online from Budapest airport to the tent. Ringo Light covers Hungary with unlimited data at full speed; it arrives by email and installs in one scan.

2 · The crowd and the signal on the island

Sziget draws a big international crowd, many of them staying all week. The island is long and narrow, so people spread out between the main stage, the smaller stages, the circus tent and the campsite. Data is usually good in the campsite in the morning and weakest right in front of the main stage at the evening peak.

Save your wristband details, the site map and your tent location on the phone. If you film a lot, upload in the morning from the campsite instead of during the show.

3 · Tickets, the app and paying

  • ✓Your ticket becomes a wristband. E-tickets are exchanged for a wristband at the entrance. Keep the ticket email or QR code saved offline for the exchange.
  • ✓The official app. The Sziget app carries the programme, stage times and island map. Set your favourites on Wi-Fi before you travel.
  • ✓Paying. Payment on the island is cashless, by card or phone; check the organiser's site for the current system before you go. Make sure your bank card works abroad and keep a second one in a different pocket.
  • ✓Lockers. Lockers on the island, some with charging, can be booked through the organiser; they sell out at busy editions.

4 · Getting there

From Budapest Ferenc Liszt airport, the 100E bus runs to the city centre. To reach the island, the H5 HÉV suburban railway stops at Filatorigát, a short walk across the bridge to the main gate, and boats and buses add capacity during the festival.

BKK, Budapest's transport operator, publishes timetables and sells tickets through its app. Check how festival wristbands and transport tickets work together on the organiser's site, as arrangements can change from year to year.

5 · Camping, charging and meeting points

  • ✓Charging in the campsite. There are charging points on the island, but in the late afternoon queues build up. Bring a power bank, charge it each morning, and use low power mode.
  • ✓Meet at a landmark. Choose a fixed point away from the main stage, such as a named bar or a stage entrance, and agree times. The island is dark under the trees at night.
  • ✓Share location early. Turn on live location with your group on the first day.
  • ✓Help points. Information and first aid points are on the island map. The emergency number in Hungary is 112.

6 · Which plan covers Sziget

Ringo Light's Hungary plan covers the whole country: Budapest, the island and Lake Balaton if you head south after the festival. If you are travelling on to Vienna, Bratislava or Croatia, a Europe plan covers the borders on one eSIM. Your own SIM stays on for calls and bank codes.

7 · Budapest around Sziget

The city is twenty minutes from the island. Four places for the days around the festival.
