1 · The short answer
Every travel eSIM sells Budapest as part of a Hungary plan or a Europe plan. We priced the six that get most of the traffic on the same day, for a long weekend, a week and two weeks, and looked at what your phone has to do between the airport, the metro and both banks of the Danube.
2 weeks of unlimited data at $14.99, less than any rival here charges for 7 days. 30 days at $26.99. Nothing renews.
3 days of unlimited at $11, 2 GB a day at full speed. Ringo Light sells no 3-day plan.
10 GB for 30 days at $11, less than our 2 weeks.
Days, not gigabytes, on Yettel and Vodafone, installed from a QR code. $27.50 for a week.
Prices read on 12 October 2026: Airalo, Holafly, Saily, Nomad, Ubigi on their own sites or listings, Ringo Light from its catalogue. All in US dollars unless stated. Treat every number as a snapshot.

2 · The prices, charted
US dollars, 12 October 2026. Airalo's bar is Szia!, its Hungary plan. Ubigi's 15 days is 30 GB at full speed, then 2 Mbps. Nomad stops at 10 days.
The 30-day plan at each brand. Nomad and Ubigi list no 30-day unlimited plan for Hungary.
Holafly sells no buckets. Ringo Light sells no bucket either: its 2 weeks is unlimited and lasts 2 weeks, not 30 days.

4 · What to do in Budapest, and what your phone does for you there
Seven places for a first visit, on both sides of the Danube. All are on the metro or a tram, with good 4G and 5G.
5 · Getting online at Budapest Airport
Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport has 4G and 5G at every gate. Switch your eSIM on when you land. The 100E airport bus runs to Deak Ferenc ter in the centre, and ride apps and the official taxi stand are outside arrivals.
The BudapestGO app sells tickets for the city network, including the airport bus, and plans routes across metro, trams and buses.
6 · Metro, trams and the Danube
The Budapest metro has mobile coverage in its stations, so you can check the next train underground. The yellow trams along the river, the 2 on the Pest side especially, are a sightseeing ride in themselves.
Budapest takes cards nearly everywhere, but the currency is the forint, not the euro. Check prices in forints on your phone, and choose to pay in forints when a card machine asks.
7 · Day trips and the next country
Szentendre is under an hour up the river, Lake Balaton about two hours, and the Danube Bend towns of Visegrad and Esztergom an easy day out; the Hungary plan covers them. Vienna is under three hours by train and Bratislava closer still. A Hungary plan stops at the border; Ringo Light's Europe trip, 2 weeks at $22.99, covers Hungary, Austria and Slovakia on one eSIM.
8 · Which plan fits a Budapest trip
A long weekend: Nomad sells 3 days of unlimited at $11 and Holafly at $11.90. Ringo Light sells no 3-day plan, so for two or three nights one of those is the better buy.
A week: A week of unlimited costs $24 at Ubigi (20 GB, then 2 Mbps), $25 at Nomad, $27 at Airalo and $27.50 at Holafly. Ringo Light sells no 7-day plan, but its 2 weeks of unlimited data costs $14.99, less than any of those weeks. You simply have days left over.
Two weeks or a month: Ringo Light 2 weeks at $14.99 or 30 days at $26.99. Both cover all of Hungary, Budapest included, with nothing to change when you leave the city.
9 · What Ringo Light is
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For Hungary, Budapest included, it sells two trips, both unlimited data: 2 weeks at $14.99 and 30 days at $26.99. Nothing renews. Fair use policy, see Terms. The eSIM arrives by email and installs in one scan, no app.
If a fixed amount of data is enough, Ubigi sells 10 GB for 30 days at $11, less than our 2 weeks. Every other 10 GB bucket here costs more than our 2 weeks of unlimited. Ringo Light sells no buckets. The card to buy it is further up this page, just after the side-by-side table.
10 · Pick by trip
Nomad unlimited, 3 days, $11. Ringo Light sells no 3-day plan.
Ringo Light unlimited, 2 weeks, $14.99, less than a 7-day plan at Ubigi ($24), Nomad ($25), Airalo ($27) or Holafly ($27.50).
Ringo Light's Europe trip, 2 weeks at $22.99, on one eSIM.
Ringo Light unlimited, 30 days, $26.99.
Ubigi 10 GB for 30 days at $11.

12 · How we compared, and our sources
We priced Airalo, Holafly, Saily, Nomad, Ubigi and Ringo Light for Budapest on 12 October 2026, all on the same day, in US dollars. Each rival's price comes from its own website where it showed dollars, otherwise from an esimdb.com listing, and every source and its date is listed below. Ringo Light's prices come from the catalogue our checkout charges.
We compare the trips people actually book: a week, two weeks and a month of unlimited data, and a 10 GB bucket. We read each brand's fair use and speed rules and quote them as the brands state them. We did not run speed tests, so this page makes no speed claims for any brand.
Ringo Light is our own product. We put it in the table on the same terms as everyone else, and where a rival is the better buy the page says so.
Left out: Maya Mobile. We could not read its own prices for this country on the day, so it stays out rather than being guessed.
