2 · Getting to the Hungaroring

Budapest Ferenc Liszt airport is on the other side of the city from the circuit. From central Budapest, the H8 suburban HÉV train runs from Örs vezér tere towards Gödöllő and stops near the circuit, and on race weekend shuttle buses connect the stops with the gates. The organisers also run direct shuttle buses from the city.

Ride-hailing and taxis work in Budapest, but the roads to the circuit are slow on race day. The train and shuttle are the reliable way back.

3 · Signal in the summer crowd

The Hungaroring sits in a natural bowl where much of the track is visible from the banks, so a lot of people watch, film and post from the same slopes. Data slows at the start and the finish, and July heat drains batteries fast.

Save your ticket and the shuttle times offline, carry a power bank and water, and agree a meeting point with your group.

4 · Apps, tickets and paying

  • ✓Official F1 app. Session times in your time zone, results and news. Live timing needs an F1 TV subscription and data.
  • ✓Tickets. Sold through the circuit's official channels. Keep the ticket offline.
  • ✓Budapest transport. The BudapestGO app shows routes and sells passes for the metro, trams and buses.
  • ✓Paying. Cards and phone wallets work widely. Hungary uses the forint, so carry a little for small stalls.

5 · What to do around the race

Evenings in Budapest are part of the weekend: the Parliament on the Danube, the Fisherman's Bastion on Buda hill, the Széchenyi thermal baths and the ruin bars of the Jewish quarter. Lake Balaton is two hours away for an extra day.
