2 · When to fly

Spring and autumn give the most reliable mornings, and many visitors book then. In summer the sunrise is early and the days are hot, and in winter there can be snow on the rock formations, with a higher chance of cancellation. No season guarantees a flight.

Because the weather can stop a flight, put it on your first morning if you have only a few days. That leaves later mornings to rebook if it is cancelled.

3 · What the morning looks like

4 · Getting there and around Göreme

Most visitors fly into Kayseri or Nevsehir Cappadocia airport and continue by transfer, and some come by overnight bus from Istanbul. Göreme is small and walkable, and tours cover the valleys, the underground cities and the open air museum. Rental cars and quad or e-bike hire are common for the valleys.

Transfers and tours are usually arranged through your hotel or an operator, and the details arrive by message. Taxi and ride apps are less dependable in Cappadocia than in Istanbul, so do not count on one for a dawn trip.

5 · What your phone has to do
