The short answer

Airalo and Holafly are the two names most people weigh for a Turkey eSIM. We priced both on the same day, for a long weekend in Istanbul, a week on the coast and a month in the country, and read what each means by unlimited. Then we put our own Ringo Light next to them, because it is cheaper on every unlimited row, and we say where it is not the right buy.

Airalo vs Holafly in one paragraph

Between the two, Airalo is cheaper and Holafly is simpler. Airalo charges $24.50 for a week of unlimited in Turkey and $69 for a month; Holafly charges $27.50 and $73.90. Airalo slows you to 1 Mbps after 3 GB in a day; Holafly states no daily cap for your own phone and limits sharing to 1 GB a day. Airalo also sells buckets, 10 GB for 30 days at $15.50, and Holafly sells none. Pick Airalo if you want to pay less or want a bucket. Pick Holafly if you stream a lot on your own phone and want no cap to think about. If the question is simply the cheapest unlimited eSIM for Turkey, neither wins: Ringo Light sells 2 weeks at $12.99 and 30 days at $26.99.

Price: the same trip at each

Three days in Istanbul: $11.50 at Airalo, $11.90 at Holafly, $8.99 at Ringo Light. Forty cents separate the two big names; Ringo Light is $2.51 under Airalo.

A week: $24.50 at Airalo, $27.50 at Holafly. Ringo Light sells no 7-day plan. Its 2 weeks of unlimited data costs $12.99, which is $11.51 less than Airalo's week and $14.51 less than Holafly's, with a week left over.

A month: $69 at Airalo, $73.90 at Holafly, $26.99 at Ringo Light. That is the biggest gap in the table, $42.01 between Ringo Light and Airalo.

A bucket: Airalo sells 10 GB for 30 days at $15.50 and 20 GB at $22.50. Holafly sells no buckets. Ringo Light sells no buckets either. If you need a fixed 10 GB to last a whole month, Airalo at $15.50 is the one of these three that does it, and we say so plainly.

What unlimited means at each

Airalo gives you 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps until the next day. That is enough for maps, messages and a few hours of video, and it is tight for a day of uploads or a laptop on the hotspot.

Holafly states no daily cap for your own phone. The one limit it states is on sharing: 1 GB a day when you tether a laptop or a second phone. For heavy use on the phone itself, Holafly is the clearer promise of the two.

Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the length of the trip, 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.

Networks and coverage in Turkey

Airalo's Turkey plan rides Türk Telekom, with 5G. Holafly connects to Turkcell and Türk Telekom. Ringo Light uses a local partner network. In Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and along the coast all of these hold up; the differences show on back roads and in the mountains, where Turkcell's footprint is the widest of the Turkish operators, which gives Holafly a second network to fall back on.

Installation, app and support

Airalo recommends its app. You buy, install and top up there, and refunds for a wrong purchase come back as Airmoney credit, not cash. Holafly's app is optional: the eSIM comes by email with a QR code and installs from that. Ringo Light needs no app at all; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan.

All three can be bought after you land, on hotel or airport Wi-Fi, and deliver within minutes.

The cheaper third option: Ringo Light

Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For Turkey it sells three trips, all unlimited data at full speed: 3 days at $8.99, 2 weeks at $12.99 and 30 days at $26.99. Nothing renews. The eSIM arrives by email, no app, one payment.

What it does not do: it sells no buckets, so there is no 10 GB plan; it is data only, no number, no calls or texts; and it sells no 7-day plan, so a week means buying the 2 weeks. If any of those matters to you, Airalo is the better buy of the three for a bucket, and Airalo or Holafly for exactly seven days at a stated daily cap. The full comparison with Saily, Nomad and Ubigi is in our best eSIM for Turkey post at /blog/best-esim-for-turkey.
