Details of individual offers and shows change each year, so check Visit Dubai and the festival's own pages for the current programme.

2 · What happens
The festival spreads across Dubai: large malls, traditional souks and public events. It overlaps with the winter holidays, so the city is busy from late December through early January, with hotels and flights at their fullest.
Opening hours and events differ by venue. Check each mall's own site before a long trip across town.
3 · Getting around Dubai
- ✓Dubai Metro. The Red and Green lines link the airport, Downtown, Dubai Mall and the main malls. Trains are the fastest way across town in busy hours.
- ✓Nol card. The Nol card is the transport card for the metro, tram, buses and some taxis. Check the RTA site or app for how to buy and top up one, including digital options.
- ✓Taxis, Uber and Careem. All work in Dubai. Demand peaks around the biggest malls and the fireworks, so allow time for waits.
- ✓Airport. Dubai International has metro stations; check the RTA site for the line that serves your terminal.
4 · What your phone has to do
- ✓Maps. Download offline maps. Mall car parks and underground links can lose signal.
- ✓Ride and transport apps. The RTA app for the metro and Nol card, plus Uber and Careem for cars.
- ✓Tickets. Event and attraction tickets are usually held in an app or as a QR code. Save them offline.
- ✓Paying. Cards and phone wallets are accepted nearly everywhere, which makes cash rarely necessary.
- ✓Signal in crowds. UAE networks are fast, but a busy mall or a fireworks night slows uploads.
- ✓Calls. Some calling features of messaging apps are restricted in the UAE. Data and messages work normally.
5 · Practical tips
Mall trips are easier on weekdays. Friday and Saturday are the busiest days, and evening traffic around Downtown Dubai is heavy.
If you are adding Abu Dhabi, the same eSIM covers it, so there is nothing to switch.
6 · Which plan covers the trip
Ringo Light's UAE plan covers Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the rest of the Emirates with unlimited data at full speed. It arrives by email, installs in one scan and needs no app. The price is shown on the plan page.
