Holafly vs Nomad in one paragraph
Nomad is cheaper than Holafly for the UAE at every length both sell, by $1.50 on 3 days and by 90 cents on a week, and it is the only one of the two with buckets, 10 GB at $18.50 and 20 GB at $29. Holafly sells longer unlimited, up to 15 days at $50.50, where Nomad stops at 10 days, and it gives the simpler product: no stated daily cap, a QR code, no app required. Nomad slows to 1 Mbps after 2 GB a day and needs its app. Neither sells a month. Pick Nomad for a stopover, a week or a bucket. Pick Holafly if you stream all evening or the trip runs past 10 days. For two weeks of unlimited, Ringo Light sells 2 weeks at $39.99, unlimited data at full speed, cheaper than Holafly's 15 days.
Price: the same trip at each
Priced on 25 October 2026, in US dollars. For 3 days of unlimited, Nomad asks $12 and Holafly $13.50. For a week, $27 at Nomad and $27.90 at Holafly. Beyond a week the two do not line up: Holafly sells 15 days at $50.50, Nomad sells 10 days at $34 and no 2-week plan, so we do not set one against the other. Neither sells a month.
Ringo Light sells two trips for the UAE: 2 weeks at $39.99 and 30 days at $71.99. The 2 weeks is $10.51 under Holafly's 15 days at $50.50. The 30 days is a length neither Holafly nor Nomad sells. Ringo Light sells no 3-day and no 7-day plan; for a stopover or a week, Nomad at $12 and $27 is the cheapest of the three, and our 2 weeks at $39.99 costs more than either for a week.
For a fixed amount of data, only Nomad sells buckets, 10 GB at $18.50 and 20 GB at $29. Holafly sells none, and Ringo Light sells none either. If a bucket is what you want, Nomad is the one of the three that sells one, and we would rather you read that here than at checkout.
What unlimited means at each
Holafly states no daily cap for your own phone in the UAE and limits hotspot sharing to 1 GB a day, so it is the one to pick of the two if you stream a lot, but only up to that 1 GB if you share to a laptop. Nomad gives 2 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps. That is enough for maps, messages and some video; a long evening of streaming in HD will hit it. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in the UAE
The UAE has two networks: e&, which most people still call Etisalat, and du. Both have 5G across Dubai and Abu Dhabi and cover the highways between the emirates well. Nomad names du. Holafly does not name its network for the UAE. Ringo Light rides a local partner network. For the cities, any of the three works. Out in the Liwa dunes and in the Hajar Mountain wadis, signal thins out on both networks, so download offline maps before those drives.
Installation, app and support
Holafly's app is optional; it sends a QR code you scan in your phone's settings, and support is by chat on its site. Nomad needs its app: you buy and install inside it, and support lives there. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan, and support is by email. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land at Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
One thing to know about calls. Every plan on this page is data only, with no UAE phone number, so your calls go through apps. The UAE restricts internet voice and video calls to apps its telecoms regulator allows. WhatsApp messages, photos and voice notes go through, but WhatsApp voice and video calls are restricted, and other calling apps can be too. Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet and Botim place calls normally. Some travel eSIMs route your data through another country, and travellers report that WhatsApp calls then work. No brand in the full comparison promises that, and neither do we.
The cheaper third option: Ringo Light
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For the UAE it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $39.99 and 30 days at $71.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.
What it does not do: no buckets, no 3-day plan, no 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data, and in the UAE that means an app the regulator allows. If you want a stopover or a week, Nomad is the better buy. For two weeks of unlimited, Ringo Light is cheaper than Holafly by $10.51, and Nomad sells no 2 weeks. For a month, Ringo Light is the only one of the three that sells one.
