Airalo vs Nomad in one paragraph
Nomad is cheaper than Airalo for the UAE at every length both sell, by 50 cents on 3 days and on a week, by $1.50 on 10 GB and by $5 on 20 GB. Airalo is the one with the longer unlimited plans: 15 days at $49 and a month at $72, where Nomad stops at 10 days, at $34. Both slow you to 1 Mbps once the daily figure is used up, Nomad after 2 GB a day and Airalo after 3 GB. Nomad rides du, Airalo rides e&. Pick Nomad for a stopover, a week or a bucket. Pick Airalo if the trip runs past 10 days. For two weeks of unlimited, neither is the cheapest: Ringo Light sells 2 weeks at $39.99, unlimited data at full speed.
Price: the same trip at each
Priced on 25 October 2026, in US dollars. For 3 days of unlimited, Nomad asks $12 and Airalo $12.50. For a week, $27 at Nomad and $27.50 at Airalo. Nomad stops at 10 days, at $34, so the 2-week and month rows belong to Airalo alone: $49 for 15 days and $72 for 30 days. Ringo Light sells 2 weeks at $39.99, which is $9.01 under Airalo's 15 days, and 30 days at $71.99, one cent under Airalo's $72, which is level, not a win worth the name.
For a fixed amount of data both sell buckets: Nomad 10 GB at $18.50 and 20 GB at $29, Airalo 10 GB at $20 and 20 GB at $34, with Airalo's buckets starting at $4 for 1 GB. Nomad wins both by $1.50 and $5. Ringo Light sells no buckets, and for a fixed amount of data both of these are cheaper than we are, which we would rather you read here than at checkout.
What unlimited means at each
Nomad's unlimited for the UAE gives 2 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps. Airalo's Burj Mobile plan gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps. So Airalo gives you a third more full-speed data a day, enough for maps, messages and an hour or two of video; a long evening of streaming in HD will hit either figure. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in the UAE
The UAE has two networks: e&, which most people still call Etisalat, and du. Both have 5G across Dubai and Abu Dhabi and cover the highways between the emirates well. Airalo names e&; Nomad names du; Ringo Light rides a local partner network. For the cities, any of the three works. Out in the Liwa dunes and in the Hajar Mountain wadis, signal thins out on both networks, so download offline maps before those drives.
Installation, app and support
Both Airalo and Nomad need their apps: you buy and install inside them, and support lives there. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan, and support is by email. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land at Dubai or Abu Dhabi.
One thing to know about calls. Every plan on this page is data only, with no UAE phone number, so your calls go through apps. The UAE restricts internet voice and video calls to apps its telecoms regulator allows. WhatsApp messages, photos and voice notes go through, but WhatsApp voice and video calls are restricted, and other calling apps can be too. Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet and Botim place calls normally. Some travel eSIMs route your data through another country, and travellers report that WhatsApp calls then work. No brand in the full comparison promises that, and neither do we.
The cheaper third option: Ringo Light
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For the UAE it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $39.99 and 30 days at $71.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.
What it does not do: no buckets, no 3-day plan, no 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. Calls go over apps that use data, and in the UAE that means an app the regulator allows. For a stopover or a week, Nomad at $12 or $27 is the better buy. For two weeks of unlimited, Ringo Light is the cheapest here by $9.01 against Airalo, and Nomad sells no 2 weeks. For a month it is one cent under Airalo, and Nomad sells no month.
