Airalo vs Ringo Light in one paragraph

For two weeks of unlimited data in the UAE, Ringo Light is cheaper than Airalo: $39.99 against $49 for 15 days, which is $9.01 less. For a month the two are level, $71.99 against $72, one cent apart. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed; Airalo gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then 1 Mbps. Airalo wins everything else: 3 days at $12.50, a week at $27.50, data buckets from $4 for 1 GB up to 20 GB at $34, a named network, e&, and an app that shows your balance and tops you up. Pick Ringo Light if you want unlimited for two weeks. Pick Airalo for a stopover, a week, a bucket, or the comfort of the app.

Price: the same trip at each

Priced on 25 October 2026, in US dollars. For 3 days of unlimited, Airalo asks $12.50 and Ringo Light sells no 3-day plan. For a week, Airalo asks $27.50; Ringo Light sells no 7-day plan, and its 2 weeks at $39.99 costs $12.49 more. For 15 days against 2 weeks, Airalo asks $49 and Ringo Light $39.99. For a month, Airalo asks $72 and Ringo Light $71.99. So in the UAE Ringo Light wins one row and ties another, and Airalo wins the rest.

For a fixed amount of data, Airalo is the only one of the two that sells it: 1 GB from $4, 10 GB for 30 days at $20, 20 GB for 30 days at $34. Ringo Light sells no buckets. Its 2 weeks of unlimited at $39.99 costs $19.99 more than Airalo's 10 GB, and it lasts 2 weeks, not 30 days. If you need a little data to last a whole month, Airalo's 10 GB is the better buy, and we would rather you read that here than at checkout. The 10 GB chart above shows the two side by side for that reason.

The week chart carries Ringo Light's 2 weeks against Airalo's 7 days, because Ringo Light sells no 7-day plan for the UAE. The 2-week and month charts are the nearest like for like, with Airalo's 15 days labelled as such.

What unlimited means at each

Airalo's unlimited for the UAE, the Burj Mobile plan, gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps until the next day. That is enough for maps, messages, photos and an hour or two of video; a long evening of streaming in HD will hit it, and a laptop on the hotspot will hit it sooner. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days, with no daily figure. Fair use policy, see Terms.

Networks and coverage in the UAE

The UAE has two networks: e&, which most people still call Etisalat, and du. Both have 5G across Dubai and Abu Dhabi and cover the highways between the emirates well. Airalo names e&, and that is a point for Airalo: you know which network you will be on before you buy. Ringo Light rides a local partner network. For the cities, both work. Out in the Liwa dunes and in the Hajar Mountain wadis, signal thins out on both networks, so download offline maps before those drives.

Installation, app and support

Airalo needs its app: you buy, install and top up inside it, see how much data is left, and reach its support chat there. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan, and support is by email. There is no balance to watch because there is no bucket. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land at Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

One thing to know about calls. Every plan on this page is data only, with no UAE phone number, so your calls go through apps. The UAE restricts internet voice and video calls to apps its telecoms regulator allows. WhatsApp messages, photos and voice notes go through, but WhatsApp voice and video calls are restricted, and other calling apps can be too. Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet and Botim place calls normally. Some travel eSIMs route your data through another country, and travellers report that WhatsApp calls then work. No brand in the full comparison promises that, and neither do we.

What Ringo Light is, and what it is not

Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For the UAE it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $39.99 and 30 days at $71.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.

What it is not: it is data only, with no phone number, so calls go over apps that use data, and in the UAE that means an app the regulator allows. It sells no buckets, no 3-day plan and no 7-day plan. It names no network. There is no app and no balance screen, because there is nothing to count. If you want a stopover, a week, 10 GB to last a month, or an e& plan by name, Airalo is the better buy. For two weeks of unlimited, Ringo Light is cheaper by $9.01. For a month it is a tie.

The comparison of all the brands for the UAE, with Holafly, Saily, Nomad and Ubigi priced the same day, is at /blog/best-esim-for-uae. The card to buy Ringo Light is further up this page, just after the side-by-side table.
