1 · The short answer

Royal Ascot 2027 runs from Tuesday 15 to Saturday 19 June at Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire, about an hour from central London. Tickets are for one of the enclosures, and each has its own rules. The Windsor Enclosure has no formal dress code, while the Queen Anne and Royal Enclosures do, so check the official What to Wear page before you pack.

On the day, the phone holds your e-ticket, your train times and the way back to the station. Ringo Light's United Kingdom plan covers London, Berkshire and the rest of the country with unlimited data at full speed, arrives by email and installs in one scan. The UK is outside the EU roam-like-at-home rules since Brexit, so check your home SIM before you leave.

2 · Getting to Ascot

Ascot station is the usual route by train, and it is close to the racecourse. Check the official Travel and Parking page for the walking route, the taxi drop off points and the parking arrangements, since the train details for 2027 were not confirmed when this page was written. Plan for a busy platform on the way home after the last race, and decide beforehand whether to leave early or wait for the crowd to thin.

If you travel from London, use the National Rail or Trainline app for live times, and pay for any London leg on contactless. The racecourse has no day-of ticket to print if you hold a digital one, so keep your phone charged for the barrier.

3 · Tickets, enclosures and dress codes

  • ✓Windsor Enclosure. A lively public enclosure with no formal dress code, where you may bring a picnic within the rules. Read the picnic policy on the Ascot site first.
  • ✓Queen Anne Enclosure. The main public enclosure with access to the Grandstand and the Parade Ring. It has its own dress code, listed on the official site.
  • ✓Royal Enclosure. Open to members and their guests only, with a strict dress code. Members can book badges from January.
  • ✓E-tickets. Tickets are booked through the official Ascot ticketing site. Save yours to your phone wallet or take a screenshot over Wi-Fi, so it opens at the gate.

4 · Signal on a big race day

On the biggest days the course is full, and every phone in the grounds is leaning on the same few masts. Calls and messages mostly work, but uploads and betting apps can slow down in the final furlong. Send photos later and agree a meeting place by landmark, not by phone call.

Dress codes and small bags leave little room for a charger, so charge fully before you leave. A slim power bank that fits a pocket is worth taking where bag rules allow, and the official site lists what you may bring in.

5 · Your phone on the day

Pay with a card or phone wallet for food, drink and the tote, as most vendors accept contactless. Keep the phone in an inside pocket in case of rain, and download your train times and the way home while you are on Wi-Fi.

If you are in a hat and a formal outfit, a phone strap or small wristlet helps keep it safe in the crowd. Turn the volume down at the Parade Ring.

6 · What to do around Ascot

Windsor is a short train or bus ride away, with the castle and the river. Windsor Great Park and Virginia Water are good for a quiet walk the day after, and London is about an hour away if you stay in the capital.
