1 · The short answer
Notting Hill Carnival 2027 takes place on Sunday 29 and Monday 30 August, the August bank holiday weekend, in the streets of Notting Hill and North Kensington. The organiser also lists the ticketed steel band competition on Saturday 28 August. Sunday is traditionally the family day, Monday the main parade.
It is among the largest street festivals in Europe, and the crowd along the route and around the sound systems slows mobile data to a crawl at peak hours. Messages get through, maps load slowly, and uploads wait. Visitors from abroad can avoid roaming with a UK data eSIM: Ringo Light covers the United Kingdom with unlimited data at full speed; it arrives by email and installs in one scan.

2 · The crowd and the signal on the route
The parade follows a loop through Notting Hill, with static sound systems on the side streets and food stalls everywhere in between. The densest points are along Ladbroke Grove and Westbourne Park Road in the afternoon. That is when the cells are saturated: a call may fail, a photo takes minutes to send.
Save the official route map, decide where you want to be before you arrive, and keep the videos for the evening when you are away from the area.
3 · The official site, the map and paying
- ✓The official site. The carnival publishes the route, the timings, the sound system map and safety advice. Download the map at home.
- ✓Steel band night. The Saturday steel band competition is ticketed; keep the ticket in your phone wallet.
- ✓Paying. Many food stalls take cards and phone payments, some prefer cash. Bring both, and keep the phone in a front or zipped pocket.
- ✓Battery. A day in a crowd searching for signal drains a phone. A small power bank is worth carrying.
4 · Getting there and the Tube
From Heathrow, the Elizabeth line and the Heathrow Express reach Paddington, close to the carnival area. On carnival days, some Tube stations near the route close or become exit only or entry only; Transport for London publishes the list beforehand. Stations a little further away, such as Paddington, Bayswater, Queensway or Holland Park, are often easier.
The TfL Go app and journey planner show closures live. Walking out of the area to a station on another line is usually faster than queueing at the nearest one.
5 · Meeting points and safety
- ✓Meet outside the route. Choose a fixed place a few streets away from the parade, such as a station entrance or a café, and agree a time. Calls do not work well in the thick of it.
- ✓Share location early. Turn on location sharing with your group before you arrive.
- ✓Pickpockets. Phone theft in crowds is a known problem in London. Keep the phone out of back pockets and do not hold it out at the kerb.
- ✓Help. Police and first aid posts are marked on the official map. The UK emergency number is 999, and 112 works too.
6 · Which plan covers Notting Hill Carnival
Ringo Light's United Kingdom plan covers the whole country, so London and any trip on to Scotland or the coast are on one eSIM. Install it at home, switch data to it when you land at Heathrow, and keep your own line on for calls and bank codes.
7 · Notting Hill and London around carnival
The carnival is two days; London fills the rest of the trip.
