Airalo vs Nomad in one paragraph
Nomad is the cheaper of the two wherever you can compare them. Its 10 GB for 30 days is $19 against $29 at Airalo, and its 20 GB is $29 against $45. Its 5 days of unlimited at $18 costs $1.50 less than Airalo's 3 days at $19.50, and its 10 days at $33 costs $3 less than Airalo's 7 days at $36. Airalo wins on length and on the shortest stopover: it sells unlimited for 15 days at $49 and 30 days at $99, where Nomad stops at 10 days, and 1 GB for 3 days at $4.50. Both ride Vodafone, and both need their app. Airalo gives 3 GB a day at full speed, Nomad 2 GB. Price: the same trip at each
Priced on 25 October 2026, in US dollars. Airalo sells 3 days of unlimited at $19.50, 7 days at $36, 15 days at $49 and 30 days at $99. Nomad sells 5 days at $18 and 10 days at $33, and no month of unlimited. For fixed data, Nomad asks $19 for 10 GB, $29 for 20 GB and $49 for 50 GB, Airalo $29 for 10 GB and $45 for 20 GB. For a one-day stopover, Airalo sells 1 GB for 3 days at $4.50, enough for maps and messages.
Ringo Light sells two trips for Qatar: 2 weeks at $18.99 and 30 days at $37.99. The 2 weeks costs $0.51 less than Airalo's 3 days at $19.50, $17.01 less than its 7 days at $36, $30.01 less than its 15 days at $49 and $14.01 less than Nomad's 10 days at $33. The 30 days costs $61.01 less than Airalo's $99. Ringo Light sells no 3-day or 7-day plan, and Nomad's 5 days at $18 is $0.99 under our 2 weeks.
For a fixed amount of data, Nomad's 10 GB at $19 lasts a month for one cent more than our 2 weeks, and its 20 GB at $29 is $8.99 under our 30 days, though Ringo Light is unlimited and the bucket is not. Airalo's 20 GB at $45 costs $7.01 more than our 30 days. If you know you will use less than 20 GB in a month, buy Nomad. We would rather you read that here than at checkout.
What unlimited means at each
Airalo's unlimited for Qatar gives 3 GB a day at full speed, then slows to 1 Mbps for the rest of the day. Nomad gives 2 GB a day at full speed, then slows you. That is enough for maps, messages and some video; a long day of streaming or a laptop on a hotspot will hit either. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in Qatar
Qatar has two networks, Ooredoo and Vodafone Qatar. Both have 5G across Doha, Lusail and the main roads. In the dunes around Khor Al Adaid and on the empty roads of the north and west, signal gets weaker on both, so download offline maps before those drives. Airalo and Nomad both name Vodafone. Ringo Light rides a local partner network.
Calls in Qatar: what works on a data eSIM
Every plan here is data only, with no Qatari phone number, so your calls go through apps. Qatar limits internet voice calls to services its regulator allows, and travellers report that WhatsApp and FaceTime calls sometimes connect and sometimes do not. Messages, photos and voice notes go through. Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Google Meet are used every day for work calls in Qatar.
Installation, app and support
Airalo and Nomad both need their app: you buy, install and top up inside it. Ringo Light needs no app; the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan, and support is by email. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on when you land.
The cheaper third option: Ringo Light
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For Qatar it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $18.99 and 30 days at $37.99. One payment, nothing renews, no app.
What it does not do: no buckets, no 3-day or 7-day plan, no phone number, data only. If you want 10 GB or 20 GB, Nomad is the better buy. If you want a one-day stopover, Airalo's 1 GB for 3 days at $4.50 is cheaper than anything we sell. For two weeks or a month of unlimited, Ringo Light is the cheapest of the three.
