1 · The short answer

Doha is two kinds of trip: a stopover of a day or three between flights at Hamad International, and a longer stay for work or a winter break. Every travel eSIM sells Doha as part of its Qatar plan, and Qatar is one of the dearer countries in the region for data, so we priced the six that get most of the traffic on the same day for both.

4 · What to do in Doha, and what your phone does for you there

Six places for a stopover or a first week in Doha, from the old souq to the dunes. The city has strong 4G and 5G; the desert in the south does not.

5 · A stopover at Hamad International

Hamad International has free Wi-Fi throughout the terminal, so for a few hours airside you need no eSIM at all. Leave the airport for a stopover and you need data for the metro, a ride app and maps. The Doha Metro Red Line runs from the terminal to the city centre in about twenty minutes, and Karwa taxis and Uber wait outside arrivals.

For a day in Doha between flights, Airalo's 1 GB for 3 days at $4.50 is the cheapest way to stay online. For unlimited, Airalo charges $19.50 for 3 days and Holafly $19.90. Ringo Light sells no 3-day plan, but its 2 weeks at $18.99 costs less than either. Nomad's 5 days at $18 is the one unlimited that undercuts it, by $0.99.

6 · Doha on your phone

Doha is compact enough that the metro and a ride app cover it: the Red, Gold and Green lines link the airport, Msheireb, Souq Waqif, West Bay, Katara and Lusail. Qatar has two networks, Ooredoo and Vodafone, both with 5G across the city; every brand here that names its network uses Vodafone. Signal only thins out in the dunes of the south, around Khor Al Adaid.

7 · Which plan fits a Doha trip

A week: Airalo asks $36 and Holafly $36.50. Ringo Light 2 weeks of unlimited data at full speed costs $18.99, about half.

Two weeks: Airalo $49 and Holafly $51.50 for 15 days, against $18.99. A month: Airalo $99, Holafly $111.90 and Saily's global plan $59.99, against Ringo Light 30 days at $37.99. For a fixed amount of data, Nomad and Ubigi sell 10 GB for 30 days at $19.

8 · What Ringo Light is

Ringo Light is our own data eSIM, sold to fund the full Ringo, one plan that works everywhere with your own number ported onto it. For Qatar it sells two trips, both unlimited data at full speed: 2 weeks at $18.99 and 30 days at $37.99. Nothing renews. The eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan, no app. The card to buy it is further up this page, just after the side-by-side table.

9 · Pick by trip

A few hours airside at Hamad

No eSIM needed: the terminal has free Wi-Fi.

A one day stopover in the city

Airalo 1 GB for 3 days, $4.50.

Three to five days in Doha, unlimited

Nomad 5 days at $18, or Ringo Light 2 weeks at $18.99 for $0.99 more if you might stay longer.

A week or two in Doha

Ringo Light unlimited, 2 weeks, $18.99, about half what Airalo or Holafly ask for a week.

A month of work in Doha

Ringo Light unlimited, 30 days, $37.99. Airalo asks $99.

10 · Frequently asked questions

What is the best eSIM for Doha?+
For anything over five days, Ringo Light: unlimited data at full speed for 2 weeks at $18.99 or 30 days at $37.99, priced on 28 September 2026. For a day between flights, Airalo 1 GB for 3 days at $4.50. Every brand here sells one Qatar plan that covers Doha in full.
Do I need an eSIM for a layover at Hamad International?+
Not if you stay airside: the terminal has free Wi-Fi. You need data once you leave the airport for the city.
Does my eSIM work on the Doha Metro?+
Yes. The stations and tunnels have mobile coverage, so maps and messages keep working underground.
Which network will my eSIM use in Doha?+

11 · How we compared, and our sources

We priced Airalo, Holafly, Saily, Nomad, Ubigi and Ringo Light for Doha on 28 September 2026, all on the same day, in US dollars. Each rival's price comes from its own website where it showed dollars, otherwise from an esimdb.com listing, and every source and its date is listed below. Ringo Light's prices come from the catalogue our checkout charges.

We compare the trips people actually book: a week, two weeks and a month of unlimited data, and a 10 GB bucket. We read each brand's fair use and speed rules and quote them as the brands state them. We did not run speed tests, so this page makes no speed claims for any brand.

Ringo Light is our own product. We put it in the table on the same terms as everyone else, and where a rival is the better buy the page says so.

Left out: Maya Mobile. We could not read its own prices for this country on the day, so it stays out rather than being guessed.
