Holafly vs Nomad in one paragraph
Nomad is the cheaper brand for Germany at 3 and 7 days, by $0.90 and $4.50, and the only one with buckets. Holafly is the only one with unlimited at 15 and 30 days, and it states no daily cap on your own phone where Nomad slows after 2 GB. For 3 days, two weeks or a month of unlimited, neither is the cheapest: Ringo Light is $8.99, $16.99 and $26.99, unlimited data at full speed.
Price: the same trip at each
Prices are in US dollars from 25 October 2026. Three days is $11 at Nomad and $11.90 at Holafly. A week is $23 against $27.50. Only Holafly sells longer unlimited, 15 days at $51.50 and 30 days at $76.50.
Ringo Light sells three trips for Germany: 3 days at $8.99, 2 weeks at $16.99 and 30 days at $26.99. Two weeks costs $34.51 less than Holafly's 15 days and is under both 7-day prices, with a week to spare. A month is $49.51 less than Holafly's $76.50. Three days is $2.91 less than Holafly and $2.01 less than Nomad.
Nomad's 10 GB for 30 days is $14, under Ringo Light's $16.99 for 2 weeks. Its 20 GB is $21, under the $26.99 for 30 days. If a bucket covers your trip, buy the bucket. Holafly sells none. We would rather you read that here than at checkout.
What unlimited means at each
Holafly states no daily cap on your own phone, though it limits sharing to 1 GB a day. Nomad gives 2 GB a day at full speed and then slows you. Ringo Light is unlimited data at full speed for the whole 3 days, 2 weeks or 30 days. Fair use policy, see Terms.
Networks and coverage in Germany
Germany has three big networks: Telekom, Vodafone and O2, with 1&1 building a fourth. All three cover Berlin, Munich, Hamburg and Cologne well. Telekom reaches furthest into the countryside; O2 is thinnest outside the cities. Coverage on trains is patchy on every network in cuttings and forests, which is why the ICE has its own Wi-Fi. None of the brands in the parent comparison names Telekom. If your trip is cities and rail, any of them works.
Holafly rides Vodafone and O2, and Nomad rides O2 and Vodafone. Ringo Light rides a local partner network.
Installation and app
Holafly recommends its app, and Nomad's is optional. Ringo Light needs no app: the eSIM arrives by email in seconds and installs in one scan. Whichever you pick, install it at home before you fly and switch it on for data when you land.
The cheaper third option: Ringo Light
Ringo Light is our own data eSIM for travellers. For Germany it sells three trips, all unlimited data at full speed: 3 days at $8.99, 2 weeks at $16.99 and 30 days at $26.99. You pay once, nothing renews, and there is no app.
It has no buckets and no 7-day plan, and it is data only, so calls go over apps that use data.
