1 · The short answer

Frieze lists Frieze New York for 12 to 16 May 2027 at The Shed, the arts centre at Hudson Yards on Manhattan's West Side. The fair is compact compared with its London sister, stacked over several levels of one building, and it lands in the middle of New York's busiest month for art: auctions, other fairs and gallery openings all fall in May.

Ringo Light's United States plan covers New York and the rest of the country: unlimited data at full speed, delivered by email, installed with one scan. In a city where you move by subway, ride-hail and on foot between Chelsea, the Upper East Side and Brooklyn, that matters more than any single feature.

2 · The Shed's levels

The Shed is a vertical building, so Frieze New York is a fair of floors rather than aisles. Galleries are spread over its gallery levels and The McCourt, the large hall under the moving outer shell, connected by stairs, escalators and lifts. Its entrance faces the High Line and Hudson Yards, on West 30th Street.

Because the fair is stacked, it is easy to miss a level. Save the floor plan from the Frieze site and your ticket in your phone wallet before you arrive; the queue outside on the first day is not the place to find a confirmation email.

3 · Signal in a full venue

Hudson Yards has strong coverage outdoors, but inside a building full of concrete, glass and people, mobile data slows on the preview days, especially on the busiest levels. Messages and calls usually go through; large image uploads wait.

Send files from the outdoor plaza or the High Line steps between appointments, and keep video for later. A local data line lets you share works with clients on the spot without depending on venue Wi-Fi, and keeps your home number free for calls.

4 · New York's art month

  • ✓Auctions. The major auction houses hold their spring sales of modern and contemporary art in May, with public viewings beforehand.
  • ✓Other fairs. Several fairs run around the same weeks, from TEFAF New York at the Park Avenue Armory to fairs for younger galleries; check each fair's site for dates.
  • ✓Chelsea. The gallery district between West 18th and West 28th Streets is a short walk south of The Shed.
  • ✓Museums. The Whitney at the south end of the High Line, MoMA in Midtown and Dia Beacon up the Hudson.

5 · Getting there and getting around

JFK, Newark and LaGuardia all serve New York; JFK connects to the subway by AirTrain, Newark to Penn Station by AirTrain and NJ Transit. The 7 train ends at 34 St Hudson Yards, a short walk from The Shed, and Penn Station is about ten minutes away on foot.

Tap a contactless card or phone wallet at the OMNY readers to ride the subway and buses, with a weekly fare cap. The High Line, the elevated park that ends beside The Shed, is the pleasant way to walk south to Chelsea's galleries and the Whitney.
