1 · The short answer

Art Basel lists its Miami Beach fair for 4 to 6 December 2026. It takes place at the Miami Beach Convention Center, a few blocks back from the ocean, and anchors what Miami calls Art Week: a dozen or more satellite fairs, museum openings and parties between South Beach, downtown, Wynwood and the Design District.

Ringo Light's United States plan covers Miami and the rest of the country: unlimited data at full speed, delivered by email, installed with one scan, with no app to download. For a week that runs on ride-hail apps, maps and shared locations across two islands and the mainland, having data the moment you land at MIA is the useful part.

Dates: Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December 2026, with invitation-only preview days before the public days. Organiser's page

2 · The Convention Center floor

The fair fills the exhibition halls of the Miami Beach Convention Center on Convention Center Drive, next to the Miami Beach Botanical Garden and Collins Park. Galleries line long numbered aisles; the curated sectors such as Nova, Positions and Survey are placed within the main floor, and the Meridians sector, for large works, has its own space. Talks run on site, and public art projects spill into Collins Park and onto the beach.

The Art Basel app holds the floor plan, the exhibitor list and your saved works. Load it on Wi-Fi before you go in so you are not waiting for images on a busy floor, and put your ticket or card in your phone wallet.

3 · Signal in a full exhibition hall

A convention hall packed for a preview day is the textbook case of crowded cells: thousands of people inside one building, all sending photographs of works at once. Calls and messages usually go through; large uploads and video slow down most. The outdoor areas around the building, and the lobbies near the entrances, are where files send fastest.

If you share images with clients during the day, batch them and let them queue rather than retrying in the middle of an aisle. Keep your phone charged too: maps, ride-hail and the heat make December batteries drain faster than you expect, so carry a power bank.

4 · The satellite fairs and museums

  • ✓Design Miami. The design fair runs alongside Art Basel in Miami Beach, close to the Convention Center.
  • ✓On the beach. Fairs in temporary structures on the sand and along Collins Avenue, such as Untitled, add to the walking route on Miami Beach.
  • ✓Across the bay. Art Miami, NADA and others set up on the mainland, which means a causeway crossing.
  • ✓Museums. The Bass in Collins Park, Pérez Art Museum Miami in downtown's Museum Park, ICA Miami in the Design District and the Rubell Museum in Allapattah all open new shows for the week.

5 · Traffic, causeways and getting around

Miami International Airport is about twenty minutes from Miami Beach on a normal day; Fort Lauderdale is the other option. During Art Week the causeways between Miami Beach and the mainland jam in the late afternoon, so plan crossings around the evening openings and allow far more time than the map suggests.

On Miami Beach itself, walking and the free city trolley cover most of the distance between the Convention Center, Collins Park and the beach fairs. Downtown, the free Metromover loops around the museums and Brickell. Ride-hail is how most people move between neighbourhoods; it needs live data and location at pickup, which is exactly when a crowded street slows things down, so request a few minutes early.
