2 · Getting to the Red Bull Ring
Graz is the nearest airport, about an hour away by road, and Vienna and Salzburg are both a longer drive or train ride. Austrian railways run trains to Knittelfeld and Zeltweg near the circuit, and on race weekend shuttle buses connect the stations with the gates.
Traffic into Spielberg is heavy on race morning and slow after the race. If you drive, book parking in advance and leave early.
3 · Signal on the hillside and at the campsites
The grandstands and the grass banks spread up the hillside, and the campsites fill with fans for four days. Coverage is good across the area, but data slows at the start, the finish and the evening on the campsites when everyone posts at once.
Save your ticket, parking pass and the circuit map offline, carry a power bank, and agree a meeting point, because the hillside makes it easy to lose your group.
4 · Apps, tickets and paying
- ✓Official F1 app. Session times in your time zone, results and news. Live timing needs an F1 TV subscription and data.
- ✓Tickets. Sold through the circuit as mobile tickets. Keep yours offline.
- ✓Trains. The ÖBB app sells train tickets and shows live connections to Knittelfeld and Zeltweg.
- ✓Paying. Cards work at the circuit and in towns; carry some euros for smaller stands.
5 · What to do around the race
Graz has a compact old town and the Schlossberg clock tower above it. Vienna and Salzburg each make a good start or end to the trip, and the lakes and mountains of Styria and Upper Austria are a short drive away.
6 · Around the Austrian Grand Prix
