1 · The short answer

The Festival International de Jazz de Montréal 2027 runs from 25 June to 4 July in the Quartier des Spectacles, downtown Montreal. Alongside the ticketed indoor concerts, the festival closes streets around the Place des Arts for free outdoor stages, and the evening shows draw big crowds.

Canadian networks cover downtown well, but a free headline show in the street packs the squares and slows data. Roaming from abroad in Canada can be expensive, so a Canada data eSIM installed at home is the simple fix. Ringo Light covers Canada with unlimited data at full speed; it arrives by email and installs in one scan.

2 · The crowd and the signal downtown

The free outdoor site spreads around the Place des Festivals and the streets of the Quartier des Spectacles. In the afternoon it is easy; for the big free evening concerts, the squares fill and the local cells are shared by a large crowd at once. Messages and maps keep working, uploads slow down.

Check the day's free shows in the morning, save the site map, and post your videos from a terrace once the concert ends.

3 · Tickets, the programme and paying

  • ✓Indoor concerts. Ticketed shows in the halls of the Place des Arts and other venues use e-tickets; keep them in your phone wallet.
  • ✓The programme. The festival publishes the full indoor and outdoor programme on its website and app. Set your favourites at home.
  • ✓Paying. Montreal is card and phone friendly; most stands take cards. Prices are in Canadian dollars, plus sales tax added at the till.
  • ✓Language. Montreal is French speaking first and bilingual in practice. A translation app helps with menus and signs.

4 · Getting there and around

Montréal Trudeau airport is linked to downtown by the 747 bus, which runs around the clock. For the festival, Place des Arts station on the Metro's green line opens right onto the site, and Saint Laurent station is close too.

The STM, Montreal's transit operator, publishes times and fares, and the Chrono app handles tickets. Bixi bikes are everywhere in summer, unlocked from an app.

5 · Meeting points and safety

  • ✓Pick a landmark. The fountains of the Place des Festivals or the entrance of a named hall work well; agree a time.
  • ✓Share location. Turn on location sharing with your group for the evening.
  • ✓Summer weather. Late June can be hot and humid, with storms. Keep weather alerts on.
  • ✓Emergency number. 911 is the emergency number in Canada.

6 · Which plan covers the Montreal Jazz Festival

Ringo Light's Canada plan covers the whole country, so Montreal, Quebec City and the drive to Ottawa or Toronto are on one eSIM. Install it at home, switch data to it on landing, and keep your own line for calls and codes.
