1 · The short answer

TEFAF lists TEFAF Maastricht for 13 to 18 March 2027. The European Fine Art Fair is the reference fair for art and antiques spanning thousands of years, from antiquities and Old Master paintings to modern art, jewellery and design, and draws museum curators and collectors from around the world to the MECC exhibition centre in the south of Maastricht.

Ringo Light's Netherlands plan covers Maastricht and the rest of the Netherlands: unlimited data at full speed, delivered by email, installed with one scan. Maastricht sits a few kilometres from Belgium and Germany, and many visitors fly into Brussels, Liège or Düsseldorf or stay over the border; if that is your week, the Europe plan covers all three countries on one eSIM.

2 · The MECC and the fair floor

The MECC, Maastricht's exhibition and congress centre, sits in the Randwyck district south of the old town, beside Maastricht Randwyck railway station. TEFAF builds a fair inside it that looks little like a trade hall: carpeted aisles, elaborate stands and famously large flower displays. Dealers are grouped into sections such as Paintings, Antiques, Modern, Works on Paper, Design and Tribal Art, and TEFAF Showcase gives space to younger dealers.

The fair publishes its floor plan and exhibitor list on its website before opening. Save the plan and your ticket or invitation to your phone before you set out, since the queue at the entrance on the first day is the worst place to load an email.

3 · Signal on opening days

The MECC is a large enclosed building, and on the preview days the aisles are full of collectors, advisers and curators sending images of objects to colleagues. Dutch networks are strong, but inside a crowded hall large uploads slow down first. Calls and messages usually go through.

Send image batches from the entrance halls or the restaurants and let your messaging app queue large files. If you are near the border, remember that your phone can connect to a Belgian or German network on the outskirts of the city, which is one more reason the Europe plan suits visitors who move around the region.

4 · Getting to Maastricht

Maastricht is reached by train from Amsterdam, Utrecht and Eindhoven on the Dutch network, with a change at Liège for trains from Brussels and at Heerlen or Aachen for Germany. Amsterdam Schiphol is about two and a half hours by train; Brussels, Eindhoven, Düsseldorf and Liège airports are other options, and Maastricht Aachen Airport is just north of the city.

Maastricht Randwyck station is next to the MECC, one stop from Maastricht central station. Contactless bank cards work at the gates on Dutch trains and buses, and the NS app has times and tickets. The old town, the Vrijthof and the Maas bridges are a pleasant walk or a short bus ride from the fair.

5 · What to see around the fair
