2 · Getting to Interlagos

São Paulo has two main airports: Guarulhos for international flights, and Congonhas, closer to the circuit, for domestic ones. CPTM Line 9 Emerald stops at Autódromo station, a walk from the gates, and it is the usual way in on race weekend. Ride-hailing works, but traffic around the circuit is heavy.

Leave extra time on Sunday; trains fill up after the race.

3 · Signal, and keeping your phone safe

Interlagos packs a passionate crowd into grandstands around a natural bowl. Expect data to slow when the stands are full, especially at the start and when a Brazilian driver is in the fight.

Phone theft is a real concern in big crowds in São Paulo. Keep your phone in a front pocket or a zipped bag, avoid holding it out at the station, and download your ticket so you are not standing at the gate searching for signal. An eSIM cannot be pulled out of a phone, which is one less thing to lose.

4 · Apps, tickets and paying

  • ✓Official F1 app. Times, results and news; live timing needs an F1 TV subscription and data.
  • ✓Tickets. Sold through the race's official ticketing. Keep the ticket offline.
  • ✓Getting around. Ride-hailing apps are widely used; the CPTM train runs to Autódromo.
  • ✓Paying. Cards and phone wallets are widely accepted, and many Brazilians pay by Pix.

5 · What to do around the race

Avenida Paulista and the MASP art museum, Ibirapuera Park, the Japanese district of Liberdade and the Mercado Municipal fill a day or two, and Rio is a short flight away.
