1 · The short answer
Halloween is 31 October, and the big trips are planned round it: Salem's Haunted Happenings all through October, the Krewe of Boo parade in New Orleans on Saturday 24 October 2026 at 6:30pm, and Derry Halloween in Northern Ireland from 28 October to 1 November 2026. For one of them, buy Ringo Light's plan for that country before you fly: the United States plan for Salem and New Orleans, the United Kingdom plan for Derry, the Romania plan for Transylvania, each unlimited data at full speed with nothing that renews. For two or more, the Global plan, $49.99 a month for 133 countries, is one install for every stop and renews until you cancel. It is at ringoesim.com/global.
Two short trips can cost less on trip plans than on Global, and the table below says so with the numbers. The card to buy the Global plan is below this article.

And two stops in one autumn, two weeks at each, against a month of Global:
- Salem and Derry: the United States plan and the United Kingdom plan cost $32.98 together for 2 weeks each, against $49.99 for a month of Global.
- New Orleans and Mexico for Día de Muertos: the Americas plan covers both, $37.99 for 2 weeks, against $49.99 for a month of Global.
- Derry and Transylvania: the Europe plan covers both, $22.99 for 2 weeks, against $49.99 for a month of Global.
So Global earns its place when the trip has three stops, runs longer than two weeks at each, or you travel again within the month; it is one eSIM that keeps working wherever you land.
3 · Salem, Massachusetts
Salem turns October into one long festival, with the Grand Parade on Thursday 1 October 2026 and the crowds building to Halloween night itself. The city asks visitors to come by train, ferry or the satellite car parks with shuttles, and the weekends book up. The old town is small and covered; on the busiest evenings near Essex Street the networks slow down under the crowd.
- Tickets offline. Ghost tours, museum slots and haunted houses sell timed tickets, often as a QR code. Screenshot it.
- The last train. The commuter rail and the ferry back to Boston have a last departure. Check it on data before the evening starts.
4 · New Orleans
The Krewe of Boo is New Orleans' Halloween parade, rolling on Saturday 24 October 2026 at 6:30pm from the Marigny through the French Quarter, and Halloween night on Frenchmen Street and in the Quarter is a costume party in the street. Both put a very large crowd in narrow streets, and data slows when the floats pass. Agree a corner to meet on before the parade, and walk a few blocks clear of the route before you book a ride home; the streets round it are closed.
Salem and New Orleans are both on the United States plan, 2 weeks for $17.99 or 30 days for $22.99, so one plan covers a trip to both.
5 · Derry, Northern Ireland
Derry Halloween calls itself Europe's largest Halloween festival, and in 2026 it runs 28 October to 1 November 2026, in and around the old walled city, with the parade and the fireworks on the river as the big nights. The city is compact and covered; the crowd on the walls and along the Foyle is what slows the data down.
Derry is in Northern Ireland, so it is in the United Kingdom, and the United Kingdom plan covers it: 2 weeks for $14.99 or 30 days for $26.99. It is also on the Europe plan, 33 countries for 2 weeks for $22.99 or 30 days for $35.99; for Derry alone the United Kingdom plan is the cheaper one. Donegal is a few miles away across the border, in Ireland, and near the border a phone can land on an Irish network. If the trip goes over the border, the Europe plan covers both sides.
6 · Transylvania and Bran Castle
Bran Castle, sold to the world as Dracula's castle, is a short drive from Brașov, and it has held Halloween events in recent years; check the castle's own site for this year's before you build a trip on it. Brașov makes the base, with Sighișoara, the medieval citadel, a day trip away.
The Romania plan covers Romania: 2 weeks for $14.99 or 30 days for $26.99. Romania is also on the Europe plan; for Transylvania alone the Romania plan is the cheaper one. The towns are well covered; the mountain roads between them have gaps, so download the map for the drive.
7 · Mexico, for Día de Muertos
Halloween runs straight into Día de Muertos, 1 and 2 November, and for many people the better trip is Mexico City and Oaxaca that week. The Americas plan is the cheapest plan that covers Mexico. The parade, the vigils and the plan are in our .
8 · Parades, costume contests and the ride home
- Crowd signal. Coverage at all five is good; the crowd is the problem. Shoot now, upload later, and keep the map offline.
- QR tickets. Costume contests, balls and haunted houses sell entry as a QR code. A screenshot works when the network does not.
- A meeting point. Everyone is in costume. Name a corner before you set off.
- The ride home. Late at night the ride app is the one thing you need, and the streets by the parade are closed. Walk clear, keep enough battery for the booking, carry a power bank.
