1 · The short answer

The LA28 Olympic Games run from 14 to 30 July 2028, and the Paralympic Games from 15 to 27 August 2028. The Opening Ceremony is shared between the LA Memorial Coliseum and the stadium in Inglewood, and the Closing Ceremony is at the Coliseum, which becomes the first stadium to host three Olympic Games.

2 · How tickets work now

  • ✓The draws are over. LA28 ran two registration draws in 2026 for time slots to buy tickets, and says there will be no more public draws in 2026.
  • ✓2027: first come, first served. LA28 says all fans will be able to buy remaining tickets in 2027 on a first come, first served basis, with no draw registration needed. The sale date has not been announced yet.
  • ✓Create an LA28 ID. You need an LA28 ID to buy tickets. Create it now on the official ticketing site so you are ready when the 2027 sale opens.
  • ✓Official sources only. Buy only from LA28's official ticketing site and its official hospitality programme; tickets are expected to be mobile.

3 · Getting around a spread out city

LA28 venues are spread across the region, from Downtown and Exposition Park to Inglewood, Long Beach, the Valley and the coast. Organisers have promised a transit-first Games, with buses and Metro rail carrying spectators to venues. Plan your days around one zone at a time, not one sport, and stay near a Metro line if you can.

LAX is the main airport and close to Inglewood; Burbank and Long Beach airports are useful for some areas. Download the Metro Transit app, save your venue entry gates offline, and expect rideshare pickup zones at venues to be busy.

4 · Signal at the venues

Olympic venues in Los Angeles include some of the biggest stadiums in America. A full stadium, a beach venue packed with fans or a city fan zone all put tens of thousands of phones on the same cells. Expect uploads to slow at the big moments, keep your mobile ticket in the phone wallet, and set photos to send later.

Summer in Los Angeles is hot and dry, and phones in the sun drain quickly. Carry a power bank and water, and check each venue's bag policy before you go.

5 · Los Angeles around the Games

Plan rest days. Santa Monica Pier and the beaches are a classic, Griffith Observatory gives the best view over the city and the Hollywood Sign, and Exposition Park has museums next to the Coliseum. July is peak season, so book beds and cars well ahead.
